I know doses of 300mg+ will cause delierum/hallucinations, but what would a smaller, yet above regular dose do? (Regular = 50mg) like 150-200mg?

~50mg is good for sleep

~25mg is good for allergies such as hives, itchy eyes, etc.

25mg PO always provides me with very effective relief of nausea and vomiting.

I'm a methadone maintenance patient with 0 carries and a couple of weeks ago I had a really severe case of the stomach flu. In the past, they'd let a relative go and pick up my drink for me but not anymore. The only thing that made me able to get my ass there (and not puke all over the place) was diphenhydramine.

I have also used diphenhydramine many times as a sleep aid (50mg PO). A tolerance does develop to the sedative effects though.

It's a really good and effective medicine when used at appropiate dosages for certain things.

(TfWP) Despite being one of the oldest antihistamines on the market, it is more effective than even some of the latest prescription drugs.

150-200mg will probably just put you to sleep, although some visual/auditory halluncinations could occur at those doses, YMMV.

Taking DPH to have a "trip" is a bad idea in the first place. Again, 100-150mg will more than likely just put you to sleep and you'll have crazy/vivid dreams.

Diphenhydramine gives me a very artificial drowsiness, gives me restless legs, and puts me in a strange delirium where I feel as if I am half-asleep but am lying there knowing I am awake instead of putting me to sleep. Doxylamine is a much better sleep aid for me, on that I feel more naturally sedated.

A little off topic but, in some countries up to 100mg is the adult OTC limit as a sleep aid (compared to 50mg in the U.S.). Therefore, like others have said, you'll no doubt experience profound sedation (unless you've been taking the stuff on a daily basis) as well as you may mildly hallucinate.

This actually happened to me in the past. I had rather bad case of food poisoning (severe weakness, nausea, vomiting, fever, muscle aches, sweating, the whole shebang). Anyways, I ended up taking a little too much benedryl (long story) - I took 150mg in 2 hours - and I hallucinated. It was mild but noticeable. I started seeing tiny clouds in my room near the ceiling. I probably would have panicked if I saw this while lucid, but I was so sedated from the benedryl that I didn't give a shit. Dare to say, I found it interesting. Definitely took my mind off the fact that I was rather sick.

the other night i took 100mg to fall asleep and had very vivid CEV's while i was about to fall asleep but not yet asleep. i take 100 mgs pretty regularly and this was the only time i remember it being this vivid.
