Was prescribed efexor xr for the depression that comes during and after oxy withdrawls, iv never used anti depression meds befor as iv never really been a depressed person.
my doctor recons there is no risk of dependance and or withdrawls but iv done my homework and read alot about the horrible withdrawls from it.
so here is my question is it ok to use it for just a week or two at end of the taper? and a week after the phisical withdrawl have passed?

First let me start off by saying that what I'm posting is just a suggestion and so I don't want you to completely ignore your doctors advice due to it.

Some doctors prefer that a patient waits until 6 months after they get clean before deciding whether or not to medicate them since they don't want to be treating temporary symptoms of withdrawals (first acute withdrawals and then PAWS) with a medication that is usually used for a long period of time. It's also because they want your brain chemistry to have a chance to restore itself to normalcy before altering it again by adding new meds to the mix. But if a person can't make it a few months clean because they keep relapsing due to feeling depressed whenever they quit using then they should obviously consider using those meds earlier on in hopes that it will help prevent relapse.

Next, it usually takes a good 2 weeks for most antidepressants to start working since they need to build up in your system, so using them for just one week is not a good idea. It's not like they will make you feel good right away, making the withdrawals not as bad. You are still going to have to suffer the same amount either way, but there is a chance that you would feel less depressed than you possibly may during the PAWS stage of withdrawals, but you don't know if you would feel that depressed after acute withdrawals.

That's what the doc said aswell , it takes a couple of weeks to start working, the thing is I don't want to be on more meds the whole point is getting off meds all together, so I think il hold off for now man ,she said there is no withdrawal from this med which isn't true , that's another reason y I don't want to be on it long term .so might do tramadol instead just for the last week and not everyday either .
Hey thanks for advice man .

It is a horrible drug. They have more efficacy treating sex offenders than depressed people due to the sexual side effects. You don't want a brand name drug your own doctor is lying about that will only give you side effects. If you tough it out now it will be over in a few months. The SSRI's may keep you locked in forever.

Thanks for ur input, wat would be a better antidepressant then for short term use only ? I was thinking subs ,a quick one week taper ?

It depends on your dosage of oxy. If you use suboxone then 1 strip should be enough to detox with, as the only time that I've used a second strip was when my tolerance was over 300mg of oxy (well the equivalent in dope).

yeah bro its above 300 ,plus its a bit hard to get subz ,doctor dosnt want me to use that, she doesnt know how high my tolerance is.
i have access to is tramadol 200 mg slow release(i been through withdrawls off that n it sucked hard so no way im doing that shit again on daily basis)
lopromide, clonodiene .1's full box, probiotics, multi v, magnesium and vitamin b complex.
plus 20 oxy 5 mg which i use at desprate times and probably 6 oxy 20 mg il use them befor bed in the next few nights , so im kinda going cold turky u can say
wish me luck man not looking forward to it thats for sure...
