Educating someone about LSD

Ok guys and girls,

basically my problem is that i REALLY want to try LSD but my girlfriend who i love dearly doesn't want me to try it, she is relatively uneducated when it comes to drugs but rolled (mdma) a couple of times!

She will be reading this thread so, psych heads... persuade her to let me try it ! :)

(Pro's and Con's allowed :))

Don't be afraid of LSD, or it will bite your ass. Don't over-do or abuse LSD, or it will bite your ass. Basically, respect the drug and the drug will respect you. Do it for the right reasons and having a good time comes with it.

Ultimately, you are in charge of your decisions, not her. Wether you decide to take lsd or not, let it be your own choice. And yes, it's one of the least dangerous drugs.

Wait. Why you should educate someone else other than you about LSD in your situation?
If you want to try LSD with your girlfriend(which probably would be better than doing it alone ;)) or if she's going to be around you during your trip, then you definitely should educate her.

Otherwise, if you're going to try it alone, then it is strictly up to you. It is entirely YOUR trip, it is entirely YOUR time, and it is entirely YOUR decision whether to take LSD or not.

OK, maybe I'm just to serious about this "approval" from your girlfriend. :)

Pros:
- You probably will have a (really) good time
- It probably will be one of the most memorable experiences of your life.
- There is a chance of reconsidering certaing things and changing your values. (not that it is really high though)

Cons:
- There is still a chance of having bad time.
- It probably will be one of the most memorable experiences of your life.
- There is a chance of reconsidering certain things and changing your values. (not that this chance is high though).

The fact:
- LSD is not neurotoxic, and don't cause any physical damage. (I'm definitely not stigmatizing MDMA but there is certain evidence that MDMA is neurotoxic). Thus, LSD don't make your brain fry, don't put holes in your brain, or what else the anti-drug propaganda told you.

Lets get down to basics and dispell some myths

LSD does NOT put holes in your brain
LSD does NOT cause you to trip by making your brain bleed
LSD does NOT stay in your spine
LSD can cause flashbacks, but only with repeated and extreme use - ie one time will not give you flashbacks
LSD can cause bad trips, but if you follow the basic rules of having good set and setting, you should be fine
Set = mind set; how you feel when you take it, what problems you might (or might not) have, whether you are educated about the substance
Setting = basically everything else; who you are with, where you are, what is around you, what you have to do (both then and later) etc
LSD is NOT physically harmful
LSD does NOT make you think you can fly (most of the time - its happened, but only like 3 recorded times in 50 years of use)\
LSD does NOT usually cause hallucinations so extreme that you do not know where you are or what you are doing (again, it can and has happened, but only on extreme doses)

there are probably others, i know there is a lsd myths section on erowid

This might sound harsh but hear me out... If you want to trip and are really set on it, do your research and don't trip around her (while she's still against it and uneducated). If she's against it she might just add negativity to your trip which you do not want, or not know what to do if you start having a bad trip. The most important thing about LSD is having a comfortable setting and positive mindset before and during the trip, and you don't want anything to jeopardize that.

But yeah what others have said... LSD is not neurotoxic, cannot stress that enough. Do your research and have a good time! :)

i think that another important myth to dispel is the idea that LSD is 'laced' or adulterated in any way - when you buy a dose of LSD-25, it is pure LSD. Other substances have never been known to be added to street LSD and there are NO harmful by-products left over from synthesis.

just to add that there are a lot of people out there that have tried lsd and enjoy it a lot, that come from all walks of life and have families and careers, its not all grungy 60s hippies that like it.
it can also be a very pleasant, mild and lucid trip if the dose is small, and in many ways more controllable than mdma.

its hard to educate another that starts out on the wrong foot. my gf was reluctant to try it, but a low low dose had as giggling and having fun for a day and now shes eager to revisit on special occasions.

Sorry guys, i didn't really make it clear in my post. I know 100% it's my decision if i do it or not, this just contributes to set and setting for me, i'm as ready as i'll ever be to take it but would feel guilty if i did it behind her back.

Doing it with a friend that has tripped a bunch of times not her :)... Thanks so far for the answers guys.

you said it yourself- ***set and setting. LSD can be a beautiful experience so long as you repect it, don't overdo it, and are doing it for you, not somebody else

if its your first time, try to have everything like unfinished school/work projects, talking to the fam, being somewhere eraly the next day, etc. out of the way. that way youre not worrying anout crap you have to get done when you come down. one thing i like to do is clean my house upand get all of my things on my to do list done- its most enjyable when youve cleared your schedule; and going into it with a sense og some accomplishment will def steer it in the right direction from the start.

ive trip with many friends along the way who werent very experienced at the time, and IME day tripping on a nice sunny dau has always yeilded the most positive results. dont get me wrong tripping at night is awesome, but somethin about the sun shinin on you that makes it damn near impossible to have a bad time. going to the park and laying out, the beach, aquariums, zoos, or just walking around the city sightseeing always makes for a good time.

if youre not a day person, camping or anything outdoors is great setting for night trips. and if your not into outdoors, make sure you and your peeps have someplace all to yourselves to go hang out where no one can bother you. dont forget to bring your music with you, as this is key, and rent some funny movies or something along those lines to keep the laughter going, which i assure you wont be hard to do :D
A little ganja is nice if you love somking weed, but keep in mind it wil enhance effects; so if youre one of those ppl who gets a lil paranoid from smoking pot from time to time, then be sure to just say NO...lolz

its always good to have some hard liqour or a benzo on hand to abort in case youve had enough and things are spriralling down into a negative manner fast. now IMO these experiences are best worked through and have manifested for a reason- so you can resolve them or at least find closure within yourself...but that may come later in your psychedelic adventures..be easy on yourself if its your first time.

have fun, stay positive!

I did tons of research on drugs when I was 15 for my own sake.
My favorite book was From Chocolate to Morphine....

And I was never like the losers in the crew who we hung out with who would have to take triple the hits we took just to prove something and out do everyone else. Those people were dicks and alot of them are dead now because of that behaviour..Before I got high on anything (with the exception of alcohol and cigarettes) I tripped on blotter acid before I even smoked weed or anything. It was an awesome experience. That being said, I wouldnt let anyone tell me what I can and cant experiment with, maybe its the Aries in me or whatever but you are the one dosing and its not up to anyone to put ultimatums on you. Its not your job to convince her of anything if you are the one taking it, thats asinine to me. Just like its not up to anyone to secretely dose anyone with LSD without their knowledge. To me thats like committing rape.

In fact I had a girlfriend who really really wanted to try it at the time and I wouldnt let her because I knew there was something up that didnt sit right and I didnt want to be responsible for giving it to her. Well one of her friends gave it to her against my advice but luckily I was there to baby sit, she started doing really weird stuff, wanted to touch peoples teeth, hang off this really high ledge in a night club we were in, she thought strangers were people she knew, it was really scary and it was like I was trying to diffuse a bomb the whole time. I was so relieved when she finally started to come down and had her sleep at my place...And the girl who gave it to her also too LSD for the first time and was even worse, she was psychotic, suicidal and was asking "where is my dog? " A dog that died 5 years before hand from eating glass....It was a stressful night out thats for sure. I couldnt wait to get home in a controlled envrinment with peace and quiet away from the crowds and flashing lights and music...Funny thing is when I was growing shrooms, we would trip together and she was fine..

I think the research is up to you, dont count on what we have to say about PROS and CONS cause everyone reacts differently on it. Erowid has a plethora of info on it and thats the go to source for the facts.

1 word of advise: start with as least the 1st couple of times you do it just to get used to the mindset before even considering any normal dose. i know this can be disappointing the 1st couple times as you will barely feel high but you will be grateful for when you finally do trip as you wont be so blown away by it which has the potential to cause a bad trip.

My girlfriend has tripped on acid hundreds of times, and I was once THAT person who didnt want her to take, and I was too scared to try it myself. She introduced me to LSD on a picnic on a beautiful day next to a river in the forest, and it was THE MOST AMAZING thing I have ever experienced. It would be a crime to live your life without ever having experienced LSD, I suggest you read as much as you can about it, and prepare yourselves for the trip ahead of time. You will most likely have a beautiful, fun, amazingly awesome time if your set and setting are good, and you are both in a good head space.
Now I absolutely LOVE LSD, and wish everyone in the world would try it at least once :)

the only way for anyone to even begin to understand LSD is for them to experience it themselves. so get enough for you and her.
