Hey EDM,

I was looking for suggestions for mixes/albums that would be great for working out. The idea of a great banging high energy set for an hr workout seems like the perfect motivation.

I was thinking something around the 130+bpm for running/cardio. And something with real drive for weight lifting strength training. After googleing to try to find some suggestions I was left disapointed.

My girlfriend would appreciate more cheesy up beat mixes for cardio. So bring the cheese to the party as that might be great for running where you need a bit of a pick me up. NRG at like 140bpm would be a good sound, but I personally don't know of any NRG artists besides nick skitz :/. lol

I look forward to sampleing your suggestions.

I prefer older school hard trance (Cosmic Gate, DJ Dean, Angel Beats, etc...you know...the German stuff from the late 90s and early 2000s) for cardio (rowing machine for me, however, I dunno about running). I'd imagine it also works for running because it works way too well with driving.

Anyway, if you don't mind the extra cheesy-ness (or your girl doesn't), check out the Euro Temptations series by DJ Inphinity. They're extremely cheesy and eurotrancy but it works.

And I wouldn't be offended if you said you really hate Euro Temptations, most EDM people I've talked to hate it, but I love 'em for some reason...

Happy hardcore? Euro trance? Stuff like basshunter? Maybe euro trance remix of Lady Gaga and other mainstream artists?

I personally like listening to psytrance and drum & bass when I am working out. But that's probably a little too dark for your guys. :)

Like levictus, I think psytrance is great workout music, around 140BPM+. For training hard cardio, I like drum and bass which can be around 160BPM. My school of thought is to match the tempo of the music to my desired heart rate. It's nice pounding away with my heartbeat going in sync. Makes for a good workout.

:D

hardstyle is pretty good workout music

Hardstyle is another good choice, some of it has breakdowns that last too long for workouts though. You gotta have that 140-150 BPM bassdrum thunking along for basically the whole song. Check out the mix "Hardstyle Germany Vol. 5" for some good selections that (for the most part) stay true to that formula. It's got a good amount of different styles of...well...hardstyle, and they're all pretty motivating and drenched in amphetamine, which is the way hardstyle/hard trance should be, if you ask me. :) I've got a bunch of of mix CDs hanging around, the H.G. Vol. 5 is the one I usually end up listening to when something needs to be done at high speeds.

Here's an oldie but goodie from 1999, my BPM counter says its 144.99 beat per minute.
DJ Dean - Saturday Night

I would recommend the breeze and styles CD of bonkers 12... It's hardcore and quite cheesy lol I used to listen to it all the time while exercising!

For something a lil less cheesy you could try Black Magic Hard Trance Anthems (vol 1 and 2)... All these CDs are from around 2003-2005 I think :)

The Tunnel trance comps are good. I like oldskool German techno like Chris liebing some mixes from 99. Whatever is the Complete collection. Speedy J. Breaks is awesome/ big beat crystal method.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. :)

Is there anyway where cheesy euro-trance/dance remixes of pop songs are in a collective?
