I posted a thread in the Lounge titled "Starting threads with so..." and one of the ops changed the title to "So, starting threads with so...".
I'm a little upset at having a post of mine edited by an op for no reason than "it's funny to tease him", or whatever. Are postings *not* one's own, but "owned by the ops" in the Lounge? Would appreciate an answer to this.
Thanks...
Most threads in TL go through one or two title changes through the course of their life. Why? Because the threads usually change that much over their shelf life in TL, or the thread title wasn't an accurate description of what the thread was actually about. Mods edit threads in TL to keep it moving, to bring more traffic to it, or to try and start a joke (which is the whole point of TL). Once you post a thread/topic/photo in TL, it does become part of TL as a whole, and Loungers are free to run wild (without breaking the BLUA) and do whatever they want with it. Make fun, right click + save, whatever. The Lounge is NOT Second Opinion, where if you posted that thread, it would be quickly and swiftly merged with the amazing speed and powers of the badass SO mods into 'Pet Peeves' thread, and that would be that. The Lounge
does take things seriously sometimes, but very rarely, and only usually when it concerns one of our own. If a request is put in to the mod team to keep a thread rape free, we usually keep the thread clean, or tell the poster that it won't work and to chuck it somewhere else. Usually these requests are made by people making holiday related threads.
For what it's worth, I'm the one that changed the title of your thread, and I would have explained all of this to you in a PM if you had so asked me (or for that matter any of the other TL mods, as they can see what actions are taken by what mods in each thread) instead of making a thread about it, but I suppose it's for the best to post it out in the open. I changed the title of the thread because left as it was (non joke) would have invited a rape fest. So are you more upset that I made your thread into a joke and let the thread turn into a joke fest or would you have rather I left it as it was, let it turn into a newb rape fest and then had to close the thread, or just closed the thread right off the bat? Most of the time people are upset when their threads are closed, and then more upset if it gets turned into something heated (why didn't you close my thread!) and generally less upset if it's tweaked a bit and made into something funny. I can see that you probably would have been upset no matter what was done, and I hope this explanation helps.
