Edibles never did anything to me

So I was just thinking about how edibles never could get me high, no matter how much I ate.
And I can't figure out why.

At best they would get me more high if I smoked along with them.
But alone, nothing. Maybe feel a bit tired but in no way a "high" or anything recreational.

I've ate edibles without smoking about 8 or 9 times trying to get something from it-- eventually I just gave up.

I've had both homemade and store-bought (dispensary).

I know they weren't duds because friends I was with would eat the same thing, and get stoned--- I would not.

"These are really strong dude, don't eat more than 3 or you'll freak out"
...yeah... I wish. I'd eat like 6 and nothing.

I just don't get it because even when I had a high tolerance, a good sized hit or two would still get my decently high.

Kinda pisses me off looking back on how much money I wasted on edibles.

Any ideas why this happened?

Did you eat them on a full stomach?
Had you consumed any other drugs?
Are you on medication?

It's pretty difficult to say without knowing the specifics.
I'm not sure if there is any sort of liver enzyme deficiency (or similar) that can prevent people from metabolising ingested cannabinoids - but generally I would put edibles not having any effect down to poor preparation, which presumably wouldn't be an issue if you are buying from a dispensary (not that I would know, never having been to one).

A lot of edibles are bunk, it's easy to mess up in the preparation or not use enough hash. Hash yoghurts always work.

I have used them on other drugs, but most of these times were before I really got into other shit, so for the majority-- no other drugs/meds.

I have eaten them on a completely empty stomach to try to get something out of it.

I thought it was preparation the first few time buying homemade stuff, which is why everything after the first 3 tries were from a dispensary.
And like I said, others that git the same thing git high. I didn't.

Maybe it is an enzyme thing, it's just the strangest thing. I've never taken a drug that many times and had no result.

Well, don't buy edibles from a dispensary, buy some hash if you can, doesn't need to be the greatest hash in the world either if you're going to eat it. People are always going to be conservative/sensible if they're selling edibles, but if you have a tolerance it wont touch the sides. I've bought lots of edibles in the past, only one of them did anything, it wasn't on the coffeeshop menu, just something the dealer pulled out & it tasted disgusting, better off just eating hash. Friend's space cakes hardly did anything either even though they were using quite extreme amounts.

Just dissolve some crumbled hash in some melted butter, mix it into a small yoghurt & eat it. Don't have anything important planned for the day, a strong edible can get you higher for longer.

Ok so what you're describing was me, exactly. I was in the same boat. I was Convicned I was "immune". I was very wrong. What did it for me was, I got some edibles sent to me from somewhere else (I'm on the east coast). I had a 100 mg gummi bear. I ate it on an ENTIRELY empty stomach. When I tell you I was so high I was tripping, I ain't lying. Now I did the same things you had. Over 10 years I had tried about 10 times to get some sort of results from edibles. I ate homemade ones in my youth that floored my friends and I would be sitting there smoking a joint wondering why they were so fucked up. More recently I tried candies made by my local dispensary. Same deal. No results. My only guess is that some people can get really high off shitty product, and some people (like you and I) need a high dose of a really properly made product. I'm serious, I could have eaten HALF that gummi bear and still would have been holding onto the earth in order to not fall off. I had quite the tolerance too, smoking every day for years. Specifically I had "sweetstone candy" gummi bear. Have you tried Kiva bars, deca dose cheeba chews, edipure, ect?

did you eat them on a train?

did you eat them in the rain?

did you eat them in a house?

did you eat them with a mouse?

really tho... edibles never gave me the desirable buzz I was looking for. By the time I felt anything I always felt like it was too much or not enjoyable. I have noticed tho that if I eat edibles and then smoke on them I get ripped much easier. It's like edibles will take you part of the way there but you have to smoke at least a few rips to set it off.

imo, edibles aren't that great. I've had edibles that people were raving about, capsules, ultra concentrated tincture, and green dragon even. It's definitely a different experience and never really the one I'm looking for. edibles are only good when I have a super high tolerance and i'm looking to get stupid high, then maybe I'll eat an edible and smoke a bunch of weed. I prefer smoking or vaporizing.

Edibles are the shit. IMO you're doing it wrong

Haha at someone not figuring out how to consume an edible.

Sprinkling it in a cone....nope doesn't work.

Plugging it......feels funny.

Snorting it.......now I have chocolate stuck up my nose.

I'M NEW TO DRUGS!!! HOW DO I GET HIGH OFF EDIBLES???????

how i do wrongy?

my method:
step1- put in mouth
step2- chew(if necessary, if liquid/gel proceed to next step)
step3- swallow, being careful not to choke.
step4- wait

maybe you could break it down the right way for me? :D

Depends if you are making it yourself - there are some pretty basic principles to abide by, which some people get wrong.

It's a great deal more difficult to get high off edibles that aren't properly prepared.
Lipids being the key...

Other than that, the key is to not overdose or underdose.

It needs to be just right for optimum enjoyment. Goldilocks style.

Op, how much do you weight and did you eat on a empty stomach?

I used to love edibles when i first started eating them, now i just overdose and gets super tired/sleepy with a heady high

135lbs (61kg), and yes.

I think I just can't digest it properly.
Because based on what others got from the same shit, I should've taken way too much many times... Yet still nothing.

I was never able to get high off edibles either. Back before my opiate days I was smoking probably an eighth of MMJ a day, and at least a gram of hash per day. on weekends, double this. I was spending hundreds of dollars a week on pot.

I had friends who smoked less, who would get rocked off just a gram of a dispensary edible. I've eaten up to 14 grams of hash, and 2 3.5 gram edibles from a dispensary, and still felt nothing. I completely believe that if you have a high tolerance, it just aint happening. I also believe if you smoke earlier in the day, it aint happening. If you are stone cold sober for a few days, then take a shit ton of it you might be able to get high, but I doubt it.

I also have this problem. Never able to get high of edibles, and eating 21 grams worth of edible product should have had me rocked, but I felt nothing more than placebo. I just think some people cant get high off edibles.

When I cut down my last grow I made some butter with a decent amount of popcorn nugs, it definitely had an effect but it was very underwhelming for me. I don't know many people who smoke a lot who enjoy taking cannabis orally, most of them seem to think it is pretty weak, but I suppose technique could be an issue here.

I still have some butter left in my freezer that has sat there for months because I would much rather just twist up a spliff if I wanna catch a buzz.

I once bought a gourmet chocolate from an old lady in a market I was working in.
It was like a bite-size, and she said "it's very strong, have about a third at once".
I smoked a lot of weed at the time - about a quarter ounce a week - and I thought she was just being cautious, and being gung-ho and overconfident, I ate the whole thing.
Boy, did it kick my arse. I was floored.
I was taught to make butter by people who have been doing it for decades, and I think there must be a technique to it - because my experience is the opposite - the only people I know who like edible cannabis are those who do smoke a lot - because it is so intense.

I'm interested to know how much individual biochemistry plays a role, though.

It always works if they're prepared right, which means dissolving some hash in some butter & mixing it into something small, a small yoghurt is perfect. It can be extremely intense if you get the dose right (or wrong, depending on point of view) & the high lasts much longer too. Cakes hardly ever work. I've never seen anybody not be affected by 2 grams of hash in a yoghurt, without a very high tolerance that kind of yoghurt will floor you, even if the hash is relatively poor quality & you're used to smoking 4g+ daily it'll be strong & last a while. If it's bubble hash then a 1g yoghurt will do the same. 3.5g of gold seal in a yoghurt turned a heavy smoking friend very pale for about 6 hours, worst whitey I've seen.

A chocolate that I bought in Amsterdam got me fairly stoned too, the only edible I ever bought there that worked at all, but it tasted very bitter, they probably didn't use very good hash in it & put a lot in.

If you're cutting down grows & trimming, get a set of bubble bags, make hash that's 3x as good as your buds from your trash. Then cook with it, vape it, whatever, it'll melt straight into butter with very little heat.

I have a feeling that multiple pot stores/caregivers would have prepared it correctly.

If not they'd probably have quite a few very pissed off cancer patients and such.
