After I discovered Ecstasy, I immediately started trying to find substitutes. My first roll was the most beautiful experience of my life, and I decided to only use E for very special occasions.
There is no substitute for MDMA. There are some things that are somewhat similar...
- Low doses of DXM
At the levels where it doesn't feel dissociating, DXM can feel like E in a way. Euphoria, lowered inhibitions, music sounds much better, dancing feels good. There's no strong push, like E though...much more mild. Adding ephedrine makes it feel more like MDA, more of a stimulant feel. Adding pseudoephedine gives more of a "flooring" feel to it, reminiscent to MDMA, but not nearly as strong. Adding small amounts of ketamine increases the euphoria, and gives more of a 'push.'
- Methylone
Aka 3,4-methylenedioxy-n-methylcathinone, probably as close as you're going to get to a real substitute for MDMA/MDA. Not exactly the same experience, but closer than anything else out there that I know of.
- (Meth)amphetamine
I don't particularly care for stimulants like methamphetamine, but I've seen many people take pills with nothing but methamphetamine in them and think they're rolling. There's some similarities: stimulation, euphoria, and increased social aspect.
- Lower doses of many psychedelics
Not just shrooms (although they're one of the better choices for this topic), but taking 'sub-psychedelic' doses of many different tryptamines and phenethylamines can have an Ecstasy-like feel to them.
