Ecstasy overdose at WEM underage party

Why would anyone take 6 pills at that age, what was in those pills, would anyone drink 6 bottles of an unknown spirit.
poor education, prohibition, underhanded dealers, the war on drugs...
I have known in my life many people to die of drug ODs, and i can not think of 1 (outside of those which were suicides) which could not have been prevented had drugs been legal and controled.

Education is the key and quality control.
Know what you take and take what you know

Seriously... people need to understand that it is not the drug provider who is harming, it is the person who decides to buy the drug. They seem surprised when they hear that there are drug dealers in the mall? You don't have to live in Edmonton to know that. Especially since Edmonton is a large city, obviously there are going to be drug dealers.

Education is key. (As many of you mentioned above).
You shouldn't be surprised that individuals that age are taking that large of an amount of drugs, you should be surprised that they are not paying enough attention to their body to know when enough is enough.

Also, 1 pill today is not even close to the strength of 1 pill 5-10 years ago. I think the scary thing about pills is... what many young people do not know is that 80% of 'e' is actually cut with meth, and no MDMA is found. MDMA is very rare to find in pills nowadays... because most dealers would rather sell it on its own for a larger price.

It is quite tragic that there are so many young people out there, who are making mistakes just like these two girls did, everyday, because they do not know enough about the drug itself. Doing drugs is the new "cool" thing to do for individuals ages 14-17. I only know this, because I get to hear about it everyday at my own school. I myself started doing drugs at a very young age, but I was always very responsible about my use, and I knew my body well.

i feel bad for the mother, but she should have been more observant of signs of drug use, even the pink hair- a sign of rebellion more than anything else at the age of 14 should have hinted at her to talk to her daughter (right after educating herself).

6, this is why harm reduction instead of fear mongering should be taught in school drug courses.

i totally believe in that.
kids may or may not do drugs no matter what school courses say.
fear isn't a good teaching method, yet governments never learn.

People like the dead 14 year old cunt piss me off
I did fucking 3 years cuz some stupid cunt took 14 pills in a night and killed herself (Criminal negligence causing bodily harm, criminal negligence causing death, 7 years let out in 3 cuz of over crowding)

Goddamnit why dont people learn

That sucks man, I don't get why you got 3 years though cause I mean it was her fault for taking 14 pills....agree though people need to be more informed :\

urg.

I think what went really wrong here was Cassie was given to much freedom by her parents. Like, I don't really think her mom or dad had any clue what was going on, but teachers and almost every student at Jon.D.Bracco, Eastglen and M.E.Lazerte high school knew she did Ecstasy and other types of drugs often.

Cassie was a 'scene' girl. She had bleached blonde hair that she back-combed, piercings, and she worked to impress all the wrong sorts of people. Every so often, she would sit at clariview bus station and start fights with friends there, and one time the school was buzzing with news that Cassie went with her friend Kayla after school and followed a girl home, trying to beat her up in an alley. Anyway, the point is, Cassie wasn't exactly everyone's favorite person.

Cassie went to drinking parties to do drugs with her friends often and Rock 'n' ride was one of the hangouts where young girls went to party it up with older men who were almost in their twenties. It was the perfect social scene for teenagers- advertised as a family friendly dance party in the west edmonton mall indoor amusement park. Officers would walk around the area and search drunk/high teenagers for coke and weed, but this didn't stop dealers from handing ecstasy out to little kids like pieces of candy.

Mrs. Morin, the teacher that was quoted in many of the news articles, was the mother of Ashley (Cassie's best friend who did the drugs at the same time). The reporters had only interviewed about three people for the story, and the two adults were clueless as to what was really going on in her life. In Edmonton public schools, every student is given lectures about drugs and the effects they have on their body. Cassie was fully aware of what she was doing when she bought the drugs from the sixteen year old. Who knows, it could have really been suicide or something, but everyone that really knew what this girl was all about will also know this wasn't her snapping under pressure.

I have had four best friends perish because of drugs. Two died at fourteen, two at fifteen. Cassie's death only got media attention because one of the world's largest malls happens to be a heavy drug traffic area. Unfortunately, I was the only one of her friends that got out of the drug thing, and my friends refuse to believe that they are in danger too, so I've had to distance myself from them. Parents, get to know your children and who their friends are, or your child could be next.

Blessed be.
