Whenever listening to an epic song i almost get an ecstasy like endorphin rush that stems from the lower back all the way up to my head. Ever since experimenting with lsd and ecstasy this has occurred alot, maybe 5-10 times a day. Its an incredible experience, and definately is not a brain zap, more like a goosebump feeling but with more euphoria and wellbeing. Anyone else experience this a lot? and do endorphins resemble the effect of dopamine or?

Interesting. I have had very similar experiences, and I also get it when watching/experiencing things that are very emotional. A few months ago I found that I could control it to a great extent and can actually induce it at will. It's hard to tell but I don't think it's likely to be related to dopamine or even endorphins. It seems too sudden and transient. Here's something I wrote just after I found I could control it:

While lying in bed listening to music (completely sober), an incredible thing occured. As often happens, at the climax of the song a pleasant shiver went down my spine. I don't know why, but this time I decided to see if I could replicate the sensation. To my surprise, I could! It felt amazing and I repeated it about thirty to fifty times consecutively. It involved rapidly concentrating a ball of energy at the base of my brain over less than half a second then allowing it to shoot downwards. I can feel it pass through my arms and down to my legs, whilst simultaneously feeling it in my spine itself. In my spine it is a pleasant tingly energy, and in the rest of my body it numbs, tingles, and relaxes. It also exerts a strong overall calming effect and a mild euphoria. The music and my body became distant and it felt as though I were straddling two planes of being; half in our usual reality and half elsewhere - where I cannot say...

I was close to having an out of body experience with no substances on board and while not really trying to do so. I find it interesting that we both used 'incredible' to describe it ;)

fyi the song was My Morning Jacket - Touch Me I'm Going To Scream Pt II

I have had this quite few times over the years since I have first used MDMA. Moslty when listening to a mixed dj set, when I hear a tune I like the sound of coming in. I'll get a rush type feeling in my head and then often goosebumps all over. Usually only lasts 15 seconds or so. Initially it does feel very similar to that coming up on a pill feeling.

Of it's just the right moment, for just the right piece of music I can get massive rushes of euphoria coupled with tingling all through my body. It's much much rarer for me that 5 - 10 times a day but amazing none the less.

I love the feeling! I remember getting it loooong before knowing it feels similar(kinda) to a pill. Like stothrrs hav stated id tend to get it say during an awsom movie or song, or lol when id see my girl after a long time. I always just thought it was the feeling of euphoria, well real euphoria anyhow. Honestly id say it feels waaayyyyyy better then a pill, just a pitty it doesnt last though-ive thought of trying to self induce it but put it down to not possible lol, its amazing some prev posts have said they were able to-never have to buy pills again hahahahha.....

Oh yes I definitely get this! It's like using e has given me the key to unlock a doorway into this sensation. Music is definitely a trigger - but I can also induce at will. Lot's of different music will do it for me - here's one
This stuff is linked to things like kundalini yoga, tai chi, reiki etc. You can use visualisation techniques to generate very powerful sensations of energy flows along your meridians. I can recommend the journey!

Love it when that happens, its like my body gets tingly and feelings of wellbeing and euphoria too bad its only short lived

It's called frisson apparently, and there is a subreddit on Reddit dedicated to people sharing the music that gives them this feeling. I only just discovered that link recently, haven't had a chance to check it out much yet. I'm not too up to date on the young people's music though, all my frisson comes from before 1985. ;)

I'm jealous of those who can induce it at will. That'd save me a lot of money.

I get it with certain songs but usually only 4 or 5 times for the one song, then I get used to it and it loses its novelty or something.

i got this feeling before i had drugs, it was just a dopamine rush because i was experiencing somethng that was overwhelmling my senses, music is a powerful thing, the only person who seems to induce that feeling thee days is coltrane, a love supreme is the best drug

I remember watching some video showing that some people could control similar thigns with their minds like this (what the fuck can't your mind do?)
So, they could masturbate.. With their minds, and orgasm. So I guess learning how to do this is possible.

And also, the frontal lobe in the brain is the area which decides what music you like and don't.
Felt like adding at least something... Yeah, catchyas.

Damn tolerance ;)

Look into ASMR.

I know the tingle you speak of. I have always been able to induce this my entire life since childhood, and always just thought it was just normal. Then, I began experimenting with MDMA and realized what must be going on is a chemical reaction inside my body. It's pretty amazing, but does not suffice for a alternative to pills. It does not last long not does it work as well when in social/intense/loud situations.

Anything pleasurable will increase dopamine/serotonin including music, food, sex and etc etc. Some more than others of course.
