Ecstasy like. But what is it?

Just performed a full EZ-test extreme test (did it twice to be sure) and got the following results.

EZ-test = purple to black slowly = an ecstasy like substance
Simons = no change = does not contain MDMA or MDEA
Robadope = no change = does not contain MDA or PMA

So what could this "Ecstasy Like" substance be?

My friend took 1 and said he felt a speedy buzz, but then it should have gone orange. Any ideas?

Methylenedioxyphenethylamine?

No idea about this chemical but it should give those results when tested.

Sounds like it could be that with some speed. Am I right in thinking that the MDPEA would mask the presence of the oranje colour change when the Marquis test was used?

Well black/purple is darker than orange so it sounds reasonable.

Or maybe your friend's speedy buzz was placebo.
