Experience:
It had been 7 weeks since my last roll, and I was very excited for this rave. I was thinking about going out and drinking the night before, but luckily I thought better of it and saved myself for the rave the following night. I woke up around midday and get a call from my friend: “hey man I got your message, they’re pink CK’s”. I reply: “ok sounds good, fucken pumped, whats doing today do you wanna go shopping for stuff for tonight?”.
At the shops I bought some pants for the night, I thought they were a little baggy (I’m used to wearing tightish jeans) but my friend told me that they would be perfect for the night.. and they were. Chilled at my friends during the arvo. We found a DVD about the shuffle by chance, so we watched it, it had me so pumped for the rave. Fast forward to about 9pm, I was urgently walking to the train station downing a bourbon and coke as fast as I could, my two friends were shouting to hurry up or i'd miss the train. The train ride dragged on for ages. After 3 transfers, the final train finally pulled into the station, the train carriage was full of people who looked dressed up for a rave. We hopped off the train and walked up to join the line. My heartbeat sped up and I felt short of breath and more than a little anxious when I saw a sniffer dog with three cops in tow walk past us, luckily we didn’t have any problems there.
When we finally got into the rave I felt relieved and really excited. I could feel the bass in through the floor. There was a main corridor which had a few small dancefloors set up along one side. The main arena had three entrances which took up the opposite side of the corridor. I went into the bathroom and chewed up the first e at 1130pm. After 15 minutes or so I began to feel more relaxed. I got a little more talkative. I messaged my friend who hadn’t arrived yet (I was currently in there with 2 of my friends, and 3 of them were yet to arrive): “hey we’re in here now. There weren’t too many sniffa's but be careful. PLUR bitch!!”. Me and the two friends who were there went and danced in the main arena for a little while. My other friends arrived and I went and said hello and hugged a few of them. One of my friends would be dropping for his first time, so I talked to him and made him feel more relaxed about it, and answered questions he had about it. My good friend who had just arrived dumped his. We were walking and I suddenly began to feel warm and happy, now I was really relaxed. I immediately assaulted the closest friend with a hug :D . I was introduced to a girl who I hadn’t met before, I felt a good connection with her (not simply e induced, e does make me talkative, but won’t necessarily make me click with everyone), talked for a little while, she gave me a candy bracelet, I let her use my lighter and she used my lip balm (which became a running joke of the night, as we each kept asking each other for the lip balm/lighter haha). Saw a friend of mine’s little brother, who I had always gotten along with, talked to him for a while (he ended up hanging with us all night and even caught the train home with us where I gave him a lift home). Then the first timer decided it was time, I led him to the bathroom, we went into the cubicle. I was really feeling great now. I held his water bottle while he got the e out of the saddy, he dumped a half.
It was time to dance, so we went out to the main arena where my other friends were. As I walked out I stopped and looked at the dancefloor, it looked amazing. There were thousands of people in the huge room, which had thousands of seats around it (which weren’t allowed to be used) so it looked really amazing, like it was a ball of light and smoke and people, on its own surrounded by nothingness (well empty seats anyway haha). I walked out amongst the people, and instantly felt a wave of fuzziness (that tingly feeling) flow through my head and down my spine. The bass was thumping. As I walked closer to the front I could feel the vibrations in my chest. I found two of my friends and began dancing with them. I was doing my usual club moves with a little jumping thrown in, I hadn’t quite figured out this “rave dancing” yet. After a while I got sick of people bumping into me so I walked out and went to the bathroom. Then I went exploring, and found a small dancefloor which took my fancy. There was plenty of space, maybe 20 people on this floor. I taught myself the stomp here (I know it isn’t hard, I just never realised what the basic step was). After 15 minutes or so of dancing on my own, a couple of my friends walked past (one of them was my mates little brother from before). They came out and joined me and I was really glad they did (the next day my friend said “we were walking to the end to go out for a smoke when i saw you and said ‘look *insert my name* is bustin out we gotta go for a dance’ haha”). The rest of my friends joined up with us on that floor and we danced for a while. By this point my eyes were rolling into the back of my head and were wiggling all over the place, but then i concentrated and my vision came into focus with a sudden profound sense of clarity. We went and bought drinks and lolli pops ect then sat down and had a chat for a while.
Later on met my two mates who are over 18 at the bar. It was on a balcony upstairs outside. It was really great up there. It was quite enough to have a good chat with people, and the beer tasted great. The cold breeze felt great and dried my sweat covered body.
Dropped another e after i left the bar. Night was a blur of dancing, smacking out, chatting with friends and smoking a lot of cigarettes after that, haha. At one point I was trying to put my phone number in a chicks phone, I must have taken about 5 minutes lol, my vision was so blurry, after a while I figured out that if I held it far away from my face I could see :D .
Took another half about an hour after the 2nd one, I let it dissolve under my tongue (seemed like a good idea at the time, however a store and stinging tongue the next day would argue that it wasn’t). Dancing like a maniac at the front of the main arena with all of the crew was to be in order for the rest of the night. At some point did the last half. Stomped and shuffled away on that floor, with my t-shirt hanging from my back pocket, my body covered in sweat, and glowstick firmly in hand. Until I found myself with a bottle of water and a cigarette at the same time and decided to give the glowstick to a friend. Upon finishing the cigarette I didn’t have the heart to take it off her, so I danced away glowstick-less for the remainder of the night
. I got a few compliments from friends who said id gotten much better at dancing, one of my friends stopped dancing for a few minutes and watched me with an amazed look, which really lifted my mood as I am a generally a little self conscious (especially so of my dancing):D .
The come down wasn’t to bad, I just felt exhausted and stiff, I continued to dance a little, however it was obvious that me and my friends were running out of energy (except for one obnoxious friend who had done a large amount of speed and would get his come down on the train ride home, hehe). For the last few songs we waited in the corridor, and chatted for a little while. As everyone was walking out to leave we walked outside. It was cloudy and overcast, “What and excellent day, this suits my mood perfectly” I proclaimed sarcastically. It was time to put my t-shirt on and face the trip home, luckily with a bunch of people I love, who were in a similar exhausted and skattered state. It was a slow walk to the train station, on the way we came across some cyclists (dressed in there fluro spandex), to whom I yelled out a loud, mocking, over emphasised “Good morning!!!!”. Following them was a group of runners, whom two of my friends chased after and pretended to run with, which the large convoy of tired ravers on there way home laughed at. My one friend who was yet to come down (the obnoxious one still chargey off speed) was joking around that he was still feeling great and that we had come down. About 25 minutes later we were all sitting on the dirt covered station platform floor below some stairs, waiting for the train. Our friend finally crashed, which I noticed first, and began chanting in a low deep voice: “*insert name* caaaaaammeee doooown” repeated, repeated :D. Then one of my friends said: “hey do you know anyone who came down lately?” To which I replied: “hey I think so, his name starts with an M, it might me *insert name*” Friend whispers (imitating Harold & Kumar): “I think he can hear us... you know just because your whispering doesnt mean he cant hear you..” I reply: “he’s got that look in his eye, you know the one, like he’s going to kill the next person he see’s.” We all started laughing
. Train ride home was ok, long, but plenty of funny skattered convo, we kept each others moods high.
Arrived at the last station, and we split into two groups, we said our goodbyes, which were brief in my case, i was starting to get a little edgy about all the people walking around, thinking for some reason that my parents would pop up at any minute. We drove to a friend who hadn't come to the rave's apartment and chilled there, he had some weed so i hit a cone and started watching Anchorman then dozed off to sleep for a little while.
All in all, I had a great time. Definitely a positive experience, plenty of bonding with my friends, met some new people, danced like a maniac :D, and am now experiencing a positive afterglow 3 days later.
