Ecstacy Testing Kits in NZ

Does anyone know of any online retailers selling Ecstasy testing kits domestically in New Zealand?

Also, any NZers imported a testing kit from overseas, and if so, did Customs give any trouble?

Thanks.

It would be fantastic if anyone could provide this information. If we are able to get the details of any retailers that sell the reagents, we will add them to the Retail Sources for Reagent Testers thread.

TIA :)

I'm 95% sure that they are either legal or unregulated. NZ Customs' website doesn't include them in their list of contraband import goods. Infact, they seem to be legal worldwide, according to the European based EZ Test Kit's FAQ.

They have been available for sale in the past, and may be available now. Nandor Tanczos used to own a store that sells testing kits (self-link) [Nandor is a Rastafarian Green Party MP who campaigns for drug reform].

EZ Test appears to deliver to NZ.

My imperfect understanding is that Pseudope Fiend is right.

Yes you can easily get them, I saw a kit when I was in napier 'of all places', EZ test only though! and cheap. Almost all head shops have them now one being the main head shop chain that runs in dunedin, chch, wtgn and aucks.
More people use them here :)

edit: forgot to add the only time I didnt receive my ez test parcel was around the period when they regulated 1,4b, otherwise fine ever since.

or if you are very dubious about any pills or get unusual or bad effects etc i think you can send a sample to ESR to have tested?(this may incur a fee?) or pm Starboy and ask him.....?

Hi

Kits are not illegal, I don't think anybody is going to prosecute anybody for a kit.

Kits are available in NZ

NZ pills have changed a lot in the last 6 months, years ago there used to be mainly MDMA, but in the last 6 months there has been a trend away from MDMA, many pills will contain BZP and other phenylpiperazines which a reagent test kit won't pick up*, some will have a degree of MDMA to foll a test kit but may also contain things like DXM, or a 2C? or 2CT? or other new 2C or beta-keto analogues, many contain kiwi methamphetamine (P) - the results I have seen coming out of the testing laboratory are things that I'm not sure a reagent test kit would help you with. I'd be concerned about them giving a false sense of security if I was eating pills myself.

Some of the combos have been unpredictable.

Stargate are happy to get your pills tested via GCMS, but please don't send us drugs that might be illegal through the mail. Drugs, like explosives are something you are not allowed to send in the mail.

Especially please don't mail us illegal drugs from overseas.

Phone us on 0800 STARGATE, come in to our office with the sample and we will get it analysed.

Have a nice day.

* edit: I don't know what the capabilities of reagent test kits are, perhaps somebody else can fill in here.

They're pretty limited. I promote them by all means but I won't lie that they aren't overly accurate. Pill pressers can fool a tester by putting in a low amount of MDxx or like substance that turns black. (I don't know what other MD type substances test black, but I know sassafras oil does). And theres many substances out there that are psychoactive and show no results on the testers.. Anything combined wioth DMXX is going to be hard to test for. PMA + MDMA shows the same results as MDMA + MDA I am pretty sure. Also you can not tell bewteen MDMA and MDEA, Piperazines are bloody difficult to test for. Mandelin shows a bit of a fizz and smoke on some of them, followed by a slight colour change on some but its hard to tell the difference between them, and if theres another chemical in them, thats going to mask results.

Thanks for the input guys.

person: Where'd you see the kit being sold in Napier?

In the mall!, theyve only got one mall.

sorry, that place in the middle where theres a food court not too familiar with napier but remember it was the only food court we could find.

Thats great that stargate are willing to GCMS test pills for people!

Is this a service that has been publically announced?

The service has been available on the d/l for quite a while now but i really doubt stargate would be keen to see it publicly advertised...its a hell of sensitive political environment at the moment here too

The majority of people who are likely to be interested in test results or at least readily willing to access results without there being extremely widespread publicity are the types of people who are on the internet making themselves aware of the availability of the test anyway imo

Hi

Let's keep it as a pilot study at the moment.

Concerns were raised in our initial stakeholder conversations that such a service may provide quality control measure for criminals.

This may well have been the case when most of the street ecstasy in NZ was MDMA, but now that the majority of it is not MDMA but is contaminated with unpredictable combinations prompting crown agencies to start speaking out on it - things may change.

In other words, when the pill results are "desirable" then the argument exists that publicising this information may increase demand for illegal drugs, but when pill results indicate "hazardous material" then there is a greater onus on health providers to make this information known, the result is a likely decrease in demand.

At present we have a turnaround time of a few weeks which means that rather than assisting people in purchasing decisions we are providing a historical snapshot backwards in time at market trends.

As the majority of pills tested recently are heavily adulterated, this helps us make our case that the service is worthwhile.
