Opioids eating old cottons loaded w/ oxy?

So my friend has a lot of old cottons used for oxy. There's definitely a substantial amount in them. So my question is pretty simple, would there be any negative effects or damage if I were to eat maybe 20 teeny cotton balls?


Inb4 flaming for banging pills (I didn't... my friend did) and flaming for such a stupid question
 
Add a substantial amount of water, strain the cottons out, then drink the water. No need to eat cottons.

It isn't a good idea to do this if your friend re-used needles or didn't use a new cooker, new cotton, etc. Every time. Can you make that assurance? If not, it isn't safe.
 
^yes I wouldn't even consider it otherwise but he always uses sterile equipment and is very smart about prepping stuff.
