(I am not a writer, not artistic by any means, but a couple of nights ago I had a dream in which I wrote this poem, and over the last 2 days I've managed to piece it together, racking my brain to remember all the lines. It's not something I've heard somewhere else and just remembered though, it is original)
This is my favourite part of the day
The minutes in which I've just woken up
And the sun comes in cracks through the blinds
You're not awake yet, and for a moment
I don't have work
I don't have bills, or an ego to feed
I don't even look at the clock
Slowly but surely you feel the twitches in the bed
The changes in temperature that tell you I've turned off the electric blanket
Sitting here, watching you sleep
Until...
You wake up, and give me *that* look
I know I'll be getting some today
Sometimes I think of you like I do copulation
I don't want it just yet, but I like knowing it's there
It is comforting in the winter months
Makes me feel something
Like I am cold, but not alone
And in these few moments in the morning before we both go our separate ways
I tell you I love you
I've told you a thousand times, each time meaning it more than before
Hoping you'll remember
My heart and the mornings like these.
