I've been wondering when was the earliest you smoked some real indica buds. I was on the Grateful Dead tours of the early to mid 1980's=D and was first introduced to these new[to me at least]indica buds. I settled in santa cruz and met folks from big sur to eureka who were growing and sharing some excellent bud,:) up thru Oregon and washhington too.It kinda seems these were the very early days of what we have today, great strains and varieties across the usa. with the technology[hydroponics, grow lights etc.]anyone could grow great bud. HIgh times magazine was advetising seed banks and the "amsterdam"connection8o. I'd like to think I was in the mix at the early times of radical doings in the herb world.%)8) I have no doubt I was smoking some of the best bud ever produced here in the U.S,and things were only getting better. Anyone else see any sense to my ideas????? I know there must be a few folks who were in the same area at the same time....Lot of america was smoking the lesser quality stuff, having never even heard of indiica...Not so today, everyone knows about it.......

Most of the older tokers I know around here (Northern Midwest) ran into sensi for the first time on tour or at a show. Probably because the stuff was coming from California and was traveling around with the circus ;) (I've toured with Phish and another band before). The early 80s were when Sensimilla first started appear, so it makes sense that you started to run into it then.

Anyways I wouldn't know where to get schwag nowadays. Seems like that whole market has been eaten up by beasters.

I love indicas. smoked some real nice looking indica tonight... Shit is so awesome for insomnia.. I am gonna sleep sooo damn good

I don't think Aussie growers really got their heads around indica until the 80's when indoor growing started to take off. In the 70's there was a fair bit of Vietnamese around as the vets came home and small-timers were bringing back seed from their travels for their own needs (mostly Asian, some Indian and a bit of African). Commercial growers pumped out acres of sativa till Landsat went up and started spying on the countryside. But once the Neds got organised and High Times talked it up there were a lot more indica vars making it through. Skunk was among the first and a lot of crew swung away from sativa to try it out. Nowadays there is no shortage of either and plenty of the in-between.

ill never forget the first time i got some sensi. im from a small town and the brick is the ruler of the weed industry around here. my last year of hs my college friend brought some super stoney, purple, dank and heavy indica back to town from school.
needless to say i started makin a short drive from then on. this started my long time love affair with new crazy strains and new breeds to smoke and try. i think that weed is why i still favor indica over sativa to this day

I have always preferred indica over sativa... actually I tended to prefer downers over stimulants overall

i enjoy a sativa buzz, it certianly has its place but i find that when i smoke its a strong indica that gets it done. nothing like the sweat beads when you get a big toke of indica. its also much better for killing pain
