You don't need a huge one, they're just satisying to use. Alas I have nothing at the moment as it's in storage.

Never made my own Pesto - always thought it was more effort than it's worth making your own (like trying to make your own hummus), but I stand to be corrected.

Nominated for the Ocado "Most middle class post of 2014" award

I made chicken wrapped in parma ham stuffed with mozzarella for dinner. Feel so full now but nevermind, thought I'd try and eat properly today as I expect I won't be eating much tomorrow as I'm back on the good old stimulant and alcohol diet ;)

making hummus is sooo easy and satisfying!
especially if you like certain spices in there

apparently you can also mix up more stuff in it than you thibk, like adding avocado

^^ Aye, I can vouch for doing your own guacamole - but that's easy. It's the whole purchasing of tahini, soaking chickpeas etc. that puts me off hummus. Can see how pesto is probably worth it, thinking about it.

Having said all that, I'm not exactly speaking from authority - just eating crackers, tomatoes and salami now. Getting ridiculously heavy lunches put on this week so going easy in the evening.

Nah, will probably have one of those Sainsbury's taste the difference cookies as well, spied some in the cupboard earlier. They're pretty nice. Might even go mad and have some cheese on toast before I go out.

Cheese on crumpets? 8( Cheese demands crunch to back it up, not oozy, greasy squelch.

Yeah technically you should use pine nuts in a pesto but they are expensive if you're on a budget and you can go rogue with other ingredients nice and easy with pesto. Rocket and walnut pesto is a nice alternative to your regular basil version. Something to remember is you don't actually need too many of them if you are making traditional pesto, people often use way too much pine nut and parmesan and it ruins the balance.

I miss having my giant pestle and mortar...

^ Had to look it up. Sounds like a nice soup.

I can't say I have one that big, but my old flatmate forgot to take his granite mortar & pestle... he never rang up to ask for it, so I kept it. :p

I managed to break my Pestle this week (it rolled off a chopping board, landed on the bench and snapped in half[It was not cheap]) - gave me an excuse to go out and buy a new marble one.

Haven't made anything that exciting this week - made an apple and cherry pie the other night (finally using up the left over of that filling). Was nice - Ill check to see if I took a photo but will probably look like previous one.

Used my pestle earlier tonight for certain things.

I've now got the munchies & am munching on a multi-grain cracker with cheese & a glass of milk. Nom nom. :)
