You only have to spend a few hours perusing the mass of dangerous misinformation that is the OD forum to realise that we are pretty lucky here in EADD.....

Still don't want to be a mod though.......
 
I have the time, the interest and a basic but broad undertanding of drugs and as a former mental health nurse and care home manager I'd like to think that I am quite good at conflict resolution, as I have had to diffuse some particulary dangerous situations while working on a Psychiatric ICU, as well as mediating problems between immature colleagues under my supervision both in my last job as an assistant manager of a care home and whenever I was I was in charge of a ward while I was still nursing.

But whats the point in delivering accurate HR advice when by now its common knowledge within EADD that my own behaviour can still be recklessly dangerous at times. I can preach but I cant practice, so taking on a moderator position would be completely hypocritical and untenable.
 
I dont know stee I think youd be a good moderator ....your knowledgable, good at conflict resolution and nice, personable polite guy....

Plus doing slightly reckless things with recreational substances hasn't been a barrier to modship to others....it adds a degree of real life experience to your words.....
 
It wouldn't be hypocritical Stee - nobody's perfect, people make mistakes, mods are here to impart knowledge & wisdom based on their own experience so that hopefully you can stop someone else making the same fuck ups.

I appreciate the complements but 'slightly reckless things' is the understatement of the galaxy. Im such a druggy that I have no right to still be alive.
 
A lot of us on here are lucky to be alive dude - I've lost 2 friends on here. If this site means people can be provided with good HR info, by someone who may or may not practice it themselves, whatever, I'm all for it.

Plus thanks to folk like you EADS IS a bastion of HR compared to other BL forums like OD (from OD - "yeah dude I banged 500mg of 3-FPM along with 240mg of morphine and didn't die ergo stims will prevent any possibility of an opiate overdose as long as the halfife of the stim exceeds the half life of the opiate" ).....

this is a 100% true summary of a post by a long standing BL member over there.....

Anyway....I think youd be great....don't put yourself down bro....

I havnt really put myself down, in fact my OP within the thread is probably the most arrogant description of my abilities that Ive ever shared - Im just pointing out that what skills I have are limited by the low quality of my behaviour. When you compare my maturity and life experience to Shambles, or the perfect proportionality of Sadies work,or the Scientific and Mathematical genius of Sprout and Julie, its easy to see that I dont even belong in a sentence containing those names. Id love a crack at it but the bar is already well beyond my reach. If im still around in 10 years i still wouldnt cut the mustard but whos to say that the quality of our current mods might have plummeted enough for me to give it some serious consideration.

hey, if you see posts - in any forum - which you feel are problematic, please report them. o.d. is under-staffed right now and we are working on that but recruiting and on-boarding new staff never happens as fast as we would like.

can you please report that specific post so we can take a look?

OK will do Ali....I'll have look...there were actually a few posts where I tried to correct the clown over the error of his thinking but I'll find it and point you in the right direction :)

Edit...

I've done that....can you have a look at the thread and see where I've tried to put him right....

Unfortunately OD is littered with that sort of thing and while I try too do my best to correct such dangerous posts my help is often not appreciated to say the least....

Fire me a PM if you want to discuss this particular issue and why it's so wrong (although I'm sure you can see for yourself why people posting that adding speed to a massive morphine shot will save you from an OD).

I feel it's just a matter of time before someone dies over there due to some of the shite that's posted....especially that incident the other day that you and I discussed

For someone with no interest in the role G, you already doing a bang up job, you've highlighted the issue to Ali and dont worry if no one posts demonstrates the appreciation of your expertise. Remember - just because you dont get a positive response your posts are still essential - remember how many folk use the site as a resource so for all you know you could be saving any number of lurkers lives every day......
 
Just out of interest Ali if people are posting stuff like that (even of it's more down to ignorance rather than malice) are they punished in any way? Verbally warned or infracted?

IMHO posting stuff like that is a far, far bigger "crime" than people just being annoying or insulting or any of the other things people get infracted for...

Like for example I was infracted twice a few years back for "abuse" i.e. telling some cock what I taught of them and while I'm not excusing my own behavior I think things like this are a far bigger deal....

Maybe I'm just thinking that way cos I unfortunately get to see the consequences of people doing silly things with drugs on a regular basis and it really does break my heart :(
