Bearlove will be your man, he's got a massive lens and precision controlled aperture, but I reckon the first thing you need to do is get hold of a guy called Cole Clisby :sus:

All manual settings; the ISO sensitivity would be put right down and exposure time would be very carefully set to get a perfect photograph of the sky + background without being overexposed. Then put a surfer in the way, focus and click.
 
Haven't uploaded many pictures lately - couple shots from my travels. (these were in Istanbul last year).

Thanks - I got some great photos during that trip (Istanbul) - both the structures were next to each other (you can seethe start of the old kilns in the black and white photo)

Kingme - These surfer photos would be taken with a high shutter speed (to reduce the amount of captured light) but still capture the fine details of the waves and show the surfer as static.

ISO (sensitivity of sensor) would be around 100

Aperture / f number - around the 5.6

They both look like they have had some serious editing done on them for the colors.

This was my latest silhouette photo - something was wrong with the set up which I didnt notice as the sun has a strange halo.
