I'm going to hate life? Why? All I'm saying is that I'm pretty fed up of this place, it's no longer as fun (for me) as it used to be, so I won't be around much if at all. That makes perfect sense to me. If there was something in life that I did regularly that I stopped enjoying I would stop doing it, wouldn't you?

You've wrote that as though this forum is the be all and end all. As though we must stay on it for... for what? Why? I've got other things I can do.

We must continue to do things beyond the point of enjoying them because that's what life is like? Bullshit knock.

Sucks to hear that, was thinkin other day ain't seen you post much. Always make us laugh.

It's shit in general to see people leave, I dunno if it's just more obvious now than it usually is cos discussion has been focused on it, but yeah EADD ebbs and flows, as I believe someone said a few months ago...

Like, I've been gone for a year or so at a time cos of similar reasons, and then come back for various reasons (I think I came back last time because I heard Evad died and had no one to really talk to about it) so yeah...I can understand why some people are fucking off, and I can understand why some people come back. Is just how it goes.

I'm going to hate life? Why?

Because what has happened here is that people you enjoyed having a banter with or reading their posts have died, and other people have moved on, or aren't posting in the same way that they used to. The same thing happens in life. My best mate died when we were 30. Other friends have moved to other countries. I moved to London because I was bored of Edinburgh, and I partied for three years and had a lot of fun with new friends. Then they all started moving away, getting married, having kids, settling down. The fun stopped again.

I miss the people we've lost a lot, so I do enjoy it less, and sometimes I come on here and think "where are all the posts?" But it's not like there is never any fun here. I can think of reasons why I might see it and you don't: Maybe I read more posts than you. Maybe I'm more patient than you because I have been through what I described above and I'm not throwing in the towel. I'm also older than you and the fact is I don't need things to be quite as fast paced as I did when I was younger, you no doubt liked the fast pace we used to have, I did too, but I don't need it quite as much as I used to. That's not to say I wouldn't welcome it, but lack of it doesn't make me want to walk away.

Only just saw your edit:

No, I still enjoy it. I enjoy it less because people have died, but I still enjoy the people who are here.

If you really don't enjoy it, then fuck off :D No-one wants someone hanging around who doesn't want to be here. But maybe you're just in a shit mood!

Is just how it goes.

Basically. I have no issue with people coming or going, posting or not posting. I'll always post when I want to and where I want to, and there will always be someone around to interact with. People will come and go throughout bluelight's life cycle; EADD will always ebb and flow. All I care about is that it's a safe and accepting place for people to post in.

ticked poster but didn't see the bottom opotion which I should have ticked

lurking/posting ratio must be 20/1 to me, would post more if circs allowed (which they don't), can be frustrating at times

do find these forums a great resource though and very entertaining to boot

It just sounds like a natural thing PTCH, youve been here 6 years, as has allready been mentioned the average time a forum holds anyones interest in 5 years. If youve lost many of the people you used to enjoy a bit of banter with then its understandable but regrettable if you now find the place less appealing, some of your posts have been comedy gold. But no ones gonna chain you to the place. It has been a very bad year for EADD, ive only been here for coming up to 3 years, but thats been long enough to see the dynamics of the place change, and sometimes the place is dead, other times its quite buzzy and fast flowing. Sometimes you want it to be like instant messaging, a real time conversation and its frustrating when that doesnt happen. Sometimes you dont get a reply to your posts for hours or days, sometimes not at all.

I hate this "oh we're so boring" talk. It's so boring. I've said it before. I'm saying it again!

The best discussion is not about whether we're having a good discussion or not. It's discussing the things we're interested in and the things that are fun. Talking about how we're talking drivel is drivel.

Now, I know I created not one but two meta-threads, two discussions about the discussions! But this is a nuanced thing. I think it's very interesting to discuss the medium through which discussion takes place, that's a bit like linguistics. Linguistics is interesting, and discussion mechanisms are interesting.

But talking about how we're being boring is a self-fulfilling prophecy. Stop it!

I think we could even add it to the guidelines:

"Thou shalt not say that the forum is going to shit"

=D
