Nice pic, Julie. I had an online friend from Leicester called Kris. Julie, I see you're from the Midlands. I used to have an ex in the West Midlands and travel there every weekend, round Dudley area. The place scared the hell out of me - the roads were fast and he used to run across the road. I said "Why the f we running across the road?" He said everyone does that here or you get run over, geeze... like a different world down there... And went to Birmingham once cause was going to Sussex uni for a week's residential school with OU n F ME that place is scary!!!! Cars just speed along like lightening.... I honest don't know how people cope in the city. Gimme a nice town with villages and stuff any day of the week....

I wouldnt reccomend you visit France in that case Evey. Over there the motorists accelarate at, rather than slow down for, pedestrians crossing the roads in the towns on pelican crossings and things. Even when the pedestrian green right of way man is lit up and the traffic lights are presumably red you get beeped at in fury and rage if you dare to exercise yor right to cross the road and inconvenience them enough to have to slow down or stop for you. Yet the punishments for speeding on French roads are said to be very severe. Maybe they are desperate to get their drivers under control.

It's much the same in Turkey and Malta, everyone seems to drive like drunk 17 year olds believing that they are invicible in their vehicles and taking outrageous risks. I feared for our lives in Turkey when our minibus driver starting overtaking on blind bends as they do in France too. I think the RTA death rate is quite a bit higher in those countries compared to the UK, but im surprised its not much much worse than it actually is.
 
^ It was like that when I went to Barcelona as well iirc. Crazy Spaniards. I couldn't do with living in the countryside though, I'd be bored shitless, it's bad enough where I am at the moment and the nearest town is only 10 minutes drive away. I never used to mind it so much but when you're used to living in the centre of a city, like I do when I'm at uni, the difference is huge.
 
Yeah i felt exactly the same when i was a student. But now many years later i love the peace and quiet and beauty of the countryside and getting away from the over crowded concrete jungles of the big cities. I dont do nearly enough of this sort of thing as i should as i allways feel so much better after such getaways.
 
I enjoy getting out of London but then I'm always pleased to be back equally. I think I'll eventually end up moving out to somewhere more quiet, but I think I'll miss the bustle and convenience.

Yeah, that's exactly how I feel. Love the countryside in small doses, grandparents live in Devon and it's always nice going down there for a break. Went for a week in Cornwall before and done Wales a few times as well, lovely for a little while but by the end I'm gagging to get back to civilisation. Maybe when I'm old I'll move away from liking city life but at the moment I love being a stones throw from London. Wish I lived actually in central London sometimes but in reality I've probably got the best of both worlds, as much as I wish I had clubs and stuff nearer sometimes.
 
My friends used to go to Cornwall every year to some place called Newkie in Cornwall whether it's the same place I dunno as I'm thick as Geography. Anyway have you heard of a place called Eastbourne? Where the golden oldies live apparently my first ex who was a mammy's boy and a complete spoilt brat used to go there and to Brighton there was a stoney beach (I actually went to Brighton when I did my week at Sussex uni) then I had another friend called Dan, who used to live in Bourmouth but apparently that was quite far away. He had some girl from Southamptom.

Hang on I'm talking shite at mo LOL Come to Wales; Barmouth, Tenby, Rhyl, Aberystwyth. Wales is ace. I can't really speak for English resorts. I went to Blackpool n it was enough to put me off for a LIFETIME.... The people were so unfriendly it was unreal. And the way people would PESTER me to buy a load of crap (mind you I eventually fell for it; they told me to put a £20 note on to make it higher and for some stupid reason I literally thought they meant make the pile higher....) I was arguing with them for ages when they wouldn't give me my £60 back, bastards!!!! that was 2004 and like I say I will NEVER go there again!!! HATE, HATE, HATE, HATE!!!!!

You mean Newquay Evey? I went there one of the days I was in Cornwall, it was alright, bit touristy and slightly chav-ish though I thought. Pretty beaches but the town centre wasn't great. It was pissing down with rain when I was there as well so that may have had some impact. Much nicer places in Cornwall, I liked St Ives best probably but it was all beautiful.

I've heard of Eastbourne yeah, never been there though. I go to Brighton quite often, my auntie lives there and also it's only about an hours drive from where I live so not too bad. Love it, would like to go down there clubbing at some point, less mainstream than a lot of cities. Shops are good too and of course the pier and sea and stuff, great place for a day out.

I've been to Wales a few times, always stay in the same place though - a little cottage near Pontardawe if you know where that is. And we've been to loads of other places like Cardiff, Tenby, the Mumbles, all round there. It's pretty, rains a lot though haha. Like Cardiff for shopping and stuff, decent city. Haven't been there for ages though, haven't been on holiday at all for ages but going to America next year so that's exciting.
 
Yesssssssssssssss that's it, Newquay. My friends, Lindsey and Sam, they went there every year LOL. They loved it, we went to Blackpool. Loved it as a kid but fuck me went there as an adult and my goodness the people were HORRRRRRRIBLE!!!!!! I will NEVVVVVVVER everrrrr go there again. I'm gutted really because had like suck good memories there...

To be honest, I've not travelled much. I've only ever been to Blackpool, Tenby, Barmouth, Dublin and Paris. I mean we went through Dover over to Paris n was lovely. My friend, who's died at 29 of cancer, and I had a lovely time. Although I got drunk, apparently smacked someone and tried to top myself (wish I'd remember smacking her as she was a right bitch!) but found out later they wree all mixing my drinks to humiliate me, they weren't a nice lot of people..... but some people are like that, eh.

Dublin was ace cause I got to see Red Hot Chili Peppers live at Phoenix Park. We stayed in a lovely BnB outside of Dublin cause would have been expensive - but was lovely y'know......

So I'm quite boring to be honest hahahaha

Nah not boring, I haven't travelled much either which people are always surprised about considering er... what I'm like shall we say. I've been to lots of places in the UK (mainly south, never been further north than Leeds) but only been to Spain twice (Barcellona and Costa Brava [not Benidorm]), Portugal once and France (Boulogne) on a school day trip. Never been to Blackpool, doesn't sound like my kind of thing. Anywhere that attracts chavs = no go for me. I'm going to America next year for my 21st (New York and maybe move on to California) and probably Ibiza to get shitfaced for a week (too shitfaced to care about chavs, aha) but that's ages away still.

I saw Red Hot Chili Peppers a couple of years ago at Knebworth. Great band. Bet you had a great time.

And yeah I agree some people aren't nice. Just don't waste your time on them, I don't :)
 
Haha ok, my suitcase is going to huge what with you in as well as all my clothes but we can try. I've wanted to go to California for ages, wish I had someone cool to go with is all. I like doing things on my own but it's nice to mix it up a bit, especially with big experiences.
 
California is pretty sweet, I moved here from the UK about 3 years ago and love it. I've always lived in the middle of England so to be able to walk to the beach and go surfing after work each night is fucking quality :D

It will fucking suck if/when I have to move away :(

Most places in England, Scotland, Wales; Shetland, France a few times (St Malo, Collioure, elsewhere), Spain, Portugal, Belgium, Finland, Croatia, Cyprus, Mallorca, South Africa 3 times (Cape Town/Jo'berg, Durban), Mauritius, America 2 times (Houston/New Orleans; San Francisco)

I suppose you might say I was well travelled. I think I once figured I've been on over 100 individual flights. :)

Pretty fortunate really but not been abroad for a fair while now being as my parent's don't take me with them anymore. Lots more places I would like to visit...

I went to California by myself (sort of) when I was 17 for a couple of weeks. Got a cousin, great uncle & a friend of the family who live around about San Francisco. Love the place!

I really want to go back sometime. Surprised I haven't yet.

Yeah Cali is the bomb. I would love to live there. I almost decided to not do my 6th year at school & stay for a few months. Would have made for a pretty fun gap year.

Oooo, that sounds lovely. Living in the middle of England, I'm kinda envious of that.. I totally need to move closer to a beach at some point.
 
I think when I move out of London it'll have to be towards the coast, preferably with a sandy beach!
