When a substance inspires you to write a novel of comparable genius to One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest I'll take your in-depth analysis into further consideration. Obviously everybody has different tastes and some certainly do find it shitty. But not a 'proper drug'? As you rightly pointed out to BHM yesterday - you used to be good at this. You still are but the 'not a proper drug' schtick comes straight from the BHM Big Book of Ignorant Inanities. Say it's shit by all means but it's as 'proper' as drugs get.
I've not read the actual book but the quote is by him and is taken from Psychedelic Chemistry (Michael Valentine Smith, 1973).

Think that was the codename it was given for the trials he was taking part in when they were trying it out as an anti-depressant in the 50s. Same drug as far as I can tell. It was an aMT study that he took part in whilst spending time in the mental instutution that inspired that lil book of his but in clinical trials they tend to use codenames I believe.
