I'm not quite ready to lift the shroud of anonymity completely but here are my efforts at growing a Van Dyke to date:

I tried growing a full beard last year but shaved it down to a Van Dyke since the growth on my cheeks wasn't think enough. I then shaved it off but have grown it back again the past 6 weeks or so. I had no idea that facial hair grew faster in the Summer months but it's noticeable... took me almost 3 months to get to this point before starting in October!

^ That's as much beard as I can grow and it takes months to get to that stage. Was told it rather suited me but can't really be arsed with the months of scabbiness involved in me attempting to grow facial hair. It just don't work.

I too am guilty of calling everyone mate, not sure why I do it but I just always have.
I do stop myself using it with Shambles though as I know he isn't fond of it,which is fair enough.
