The body changes, starting to look differently ("mature/old") may be awkward. You stop taking lots of things for granted. Self-awareness increases, to the point of discomfort at times. Experiences just happens in 40+ years, so it's good to be able to help younger friends to have a better perspective on problems and issues, either because you've been there before or you've seen it before.
Up and downs are inevitable but so far I can't complain :D
