No-ones ACTUALLY going marmz, it's just a speculative thread to waste a bit of time. I might settle for a night on the town with Shambles and Swampdragon, but Goldielocks says he doesn't want to attend pubs now. National Sea Life Centre and acid, Swampie?

haha, okay then. And yeah, thread sounds like an accurate description of events that are about to not happen soon

They're not golden, more *ahem* dark aubern. Okay, technically ginger but so dark you'd never know unless I let it slip.

:sus:

And I didn't exactly say I didn't want to attend pubs so much as I can't imagine anybody would want to traipse halfway across the country for a piss-up. Do any of us actually like drinking? More to the point: pubs. Who the fuck goes to pubs?!? Obviously if that's all that's on offer I'd put up and shut up - it's not like I have any alternative suggestions cos am not a clubber either. Sea Life Centre and acid actually does sound just about ideal I must admit =D

Not polled me poll yet but after quick scout at train prices it looks like they'll cost me much the same either date/destination. In fact, it actually seems to be slightly cheaper to Manchester. Which makes no sense cos it's much farther. The online train thingy is dodgy as fuck though (often given me wildly innacurate prices) so will double check in person at the station this week. As long as the prices given are reasonably accurate though I'm more than happy to get to either one so will go with the majority. Or even both if it came to it. Blimey it's cheap to get to Manchester 8o

Pee Ess: Are people seriously talking about not getting fukked at an EADD meet?!? Such people should be barred from attending on principle. That shit just doesn't fly at EADD meets :D

You're sooo lucky I'm not going.

noooooooo. Im sure it would be interesting to meet you. But i gather that you live miles from anywhere which probably doesnt help, even if you wanted to go, and felt like meeting some new people. I have met several people like us at my drugs support centre. There is an instant bond because of the shared journeys and life experiences. I pissed one of them off by talking about RCs he hadnt heard of and when i mentioned o-desmethyl tramadol people started calling me Proffessor :\. I wasnt trying to show off i was just telling them my story as they asked me to do. :oBut a BL meet up will be even better because people will know about all this RC stuff too. It will be a priviledge to get to meet anyone from this forum IMO.

Hmm... re-checking that train-based site I'm now not so sure about which prices actually apply. They really should try to make it less easy to understand. It'd be a challenge if nothing else. I'll ask in person and get back to y'all as to what suits me best, but, as I said before, I'm basically up for wherever and whenever as long as it's sometime over the next month or so.

It's easy, Shambles.

-go to http://www.thetrainline.com

-Type in a departure from your local station

-Punch in destination as "(Any)" station in manc or B'ham

-Punch in a date and return date. Put the times of departure at 0:00 (So u can browse all the later trains)

-Click on show prices

-Browse the trains running to see which is cheapest

Would you also like me to hold your hand when you come off the train?

Usually the single advance tickets are cheapest.

And if people want to do Manchester, can you make it the 1st-2nd or 15th-16th? Not that I have any say in it, but I want to be able to spend time with you guys.. :p

Actually, yes, yes I would <3

I was using the official train one which is less clear - never used that site before cos I don't have a choice of trains where I live, but it is laid out much clearer anyway - thanks :)

Unfortunately it just confirms my worst fears, prices are actually the really bloody expensive ones which the official site tries to obfuscate somewhat. Bugger. Both Brum and Manc cost a bleedin' fortune then. But still more or less a similar fortune - Manc is just over a tenner extra but given how much Brum costs that's kinda neglibible 8)

awwww guys (and gals) The official 2003 UK+Europe Bl meetup, bham, fri 24th oct look what they did! our ancestors... and in Birmingham as well...

I'm guessing trains would be more expensive on a weekend, try searching on Friday and look at prices through the week. Remember, I cannot do weekends right now. It'd have to be mon-fri for me, Friday probs being the best.

Yeah, weekdays and off-peak times will be cheaper but I doubt many others will be up for a weekday meet. I'm really not fussed but don't fancy traipsing halfway across the country for a couple hours inna pub on a wet Wednseday afternoon. These things are generally a bit of a "thing" or there's not much point trying to organise it all. But as I said, I really am completely flexible on dates and destinations (within reason) over the next month or so so will leave it to the majority to work out the details cos most probably have more on their ToDo lists than I ;)

And in retromeet news, anybody remember the big, international 10 Year Anniversary meet in the Dam?

*titters*

:\

Why not get a rough idea of how many people are actually serious about this - get a price for an apartment for two nights. If in Birmingham there are some pretty nice apartments (fully fitted) within walking distance from the train station - they are minutes away from bars, clubs, cafes etc. You then have the option of sitting 'at home' getting wasted - the ones that fancy going for a drink are covered and the one that fancy going to a club (if the mood takes) can go clubbing and return.

This would be ideal for a mid week get together as the train fairs / room rates are lower and then people still have the weekends free for their usual agenda.

We did exactly this for one of the Brizzle meets only was used for an afterparty/comedown/chillout/ket 'n' nitrous 'n' spliffs before facing public transport-type venue. Worked a treat. Obviously it's an extra step of organisation but really is the ideal setup for EADD meets as long as there are enough definitely going to make it worthwhile costwise and also comfortable comfortwise.

It really depends on numbers and what your planning - some seem to fancy a private setting, some fancy a pub and some may fancy clubbing depending on the mood. An apartment near clubs, pubs will cover all the basis (as long as you have enough people to cover the cost of the apartment and enough people so that those wanting a drink, club, sit in have company.

meet up at 'home' to say hellos and a chill out after travelling and drop any belongings off, after that people are free to do what they please. Get some cans, drinks, munchies etc for the apartment so if/when it turns into a session you don't have to worry about going outside etc.
