Most of the E myths I came across were just recycled LSD myths from the 60s/70s - the spine ones certainly are. I've seen the "lodged in the spine" one trotted out a number of times in relation to a number of drugs - and meant in all seriousness - by US medical folk even just recently (within the last year certainly). You just can't keep a good myth down. At least they're mostly highy amusing :D

if this apartment gets booked, what the chances that the manager might object if like 10 or more people turn up or something. Presumably its an apartment for 2 or something, i mean what are the guest rules ? Not trying to be negative just looking out for potential problems that could scupper what otherwise sounds like a very good idea.

If the meet happens in Manchester, id have no problem declaring my gaff an 'open house' for the day and night. I dont give a shit what the neighbours think, but the noise levels would have to be minimal after 12pm or something. My sound system isnt great so if anyone wanted to bring a better one along that would be good. Sad to say but ive never hosted a 'party' in this house, so it could finally get its party christening.

Leah Betts: As Bear mentioned, major media story of the early-mid 90s - first really big anti-Ecstasy push that I recall. At the time the claim was that she died "from a single tablet" with the implication being that taking Ecstasy was a complete lottery and anybody doing so could die at any point with no warning. Pictures of her filled with tubes and stuff were all over the place - big billboards and stuff even. When it was discovered that she actually died from following then current government information to the letter (which was, at the time, to drink as much water as possible cos Ecstasy makes you overheat). She basically died from water intoxication - over-diluting essential salts and stuff to the point the body can't function any more. Terrible shame cos it was totally preventable if accurate HR info had been widely available back then.

It's also either twisted or amusing (depending on perspective) that the pills she was reported to have taken (Apples) became the most widely sought-after pills in the country following the reports. I was at college at the time and was at the pub playing pool with me bestest buddy a week or so after the story broke and noticed Dunk (said bestest mate at the time) was unusually happy and dopey and kinda fuzzy round the edges so asked him wha' gwarnin. He got all conspiratorial and giggly and pulled a handful of said Apple pills out his pocket and grinned like a Cheshire cat. HR was actually much better served by supping a cold beer (just the one or two - was only lunchtime) than guzzling vasty quantities of water. An equivalent quantity of water would've been even better obviously... but we had a bit of a think for bottles of Holsten Pils at the time. Served inna glass with ice for reasons I can't quite recall. Laaaaarvely on a hot summer afternoon though <3

Pee Ess: I do believe that was the very first time I actually saw an ecstasy pill as it happens. Was still a few years before I actually got around to trying the stuff. Was a bit of a late-developer in the ecstasy stuffs for no particular reason other than I was actually kinda nervy about drugs back then. Facinated but nervy.

oooh! oooh! Shambles, I forgot to tell you.

Remember I was telling you a while back that, 10 years ago on this forum, Grobert released a harcdore mix with the vocals being Leah Bett's mother's voice on the phone dialing 999 and crying as her daughter was dying. And you really wanted a copy?

Well last week I FOUND IT. I must be one of the few people alive with a copy of this ultra-controversial song. I must have grown more sensitive as I've got older, because now listening 10 years later I found it so shocking I could barely listen.

Do ya still want a copy?

Ehrm.. if it were a big enough apartment it'd probably say it slept 5 or 6.. and shouldn't be too tricky to sneak a few extra people in. It's vey generous of you to offer up your house though. :)

Not really, it means i dont even have to leave the house for the meet up ;), as it will come to me, should that decision be made by anyone. I cant promise to have a housefull of free booze and drugs and a full evening meal for everyone. But could do some sandwhiches and crisps and nibbles and shit like that.

Well last week I FOUND IT.

Well duh 8)

Although I kinda suspect I'm unlikely to enjoy it as such either. But morbid curiosity for such a freakish creation is always gonna get the better of me 8)

Last time around, when Grobert uploaded this I commended him for it. I said that it was a piece of expressive art and we should not judge it on a basis of morality, but appreciate it for what it is. My opinion was in a strong minority, and Grobert became quite unpopular for linking it.

10 years later, I retract that comment. I could hardly listen to it, made me sick to my teeth.

Here ya go then...

Banned from Youtube

Banned from Google Search

Banned from every hardcore site

Total rarity, only a few people left in the world with a copy of this awful, nauseatingly insensitive song...

Now an EADD exclusive Listen quick coz i'll be taking this down soon, for obvious reasons The Leah Bett's Mother Harcore RemixEDIT: Gone

Oh dear. I was almost quite liking that until it turned to shite halfway through. It is insensitive as all fukkery though, for sure. Was the recording of the 999 call made public then? Presumably so which kinda makes it fair game in a free speech sense. Not saying it's at all appropriate but it could be argued a point was being made about... something or other. I kinda doubt any point was being made beyond bad taste really though. I wouldn't even object that much but it really did turn to shite halfway through :D

Thanks for the linky, Raas. Morbid curiosity sated.

things dont exist in a moral vacuum. Even the worlds least judgemental person has morals. To make a musical track out of this, for anything other than HR purposes is plain sick in the head. In a bad way.

And yes, whenever a stamp is said to have killed somebody they always get really popular.

Exactly
wtf
u Don't even do H let alone know what a stamp bag is compared 2 tar or ~3 base

that is where tis situation that the Wire perpetuated came from

^ Ooh! Ooh! Good call. Pagey and myself were vaguely planning a bake-off sometime. I reckon my Jamaican rum, coconut and lime cake would wipe the floor with her peanut butter-based offering. Seems we may have more potential competition out there :sus:

I think you may have the wrong end of the stick, old boy. I blame the drugs ;)<3=D

We were talking about stamps on Ecstasy pills not American heroin stamp bags. There's obviously a different dynamic going on when people know that a certain "brand" of gear is potent enough to be dropping addicts - can see whay people are gonna clamour for it (assuming the deaths were ODs and not anthrax contamination or summat). Why some (rather foolhardy) people think a similar thing applies to Ecstasy tabs is the thing we were puzzling about and disapproving of cos that really is bizarre behaviour.
