Hard call innit, I'd say a 70 mile commute would be a killer, but if it's SILLY money it might be worth the pain...

I've "accepted" the job I interviewed for yesterday, but it's really quite shit so I'll sack them off if anything better comes up.

Interviewed for a proper amazing job today, loads more money, loads more interesting, loads more long term, but it'll be a month before I know if I've got it because the fucking big boss is on his hols!!

Might take this one I accepted for the first 6 months of the contract, as a sort of long-term temping thing, then look for something better after xmas...

Good plan. Job market slows down around christmas, so it's better to be secure and then look again in the Jan-Feb corporate dash to spend money by the end of the financial year (or at least that's how it is in the NHS).

They're dicking me about on the contract, i.e. it's not a year it's 6 months then an evaluation then maybe 6 more. Even if I get the 2nd 6 months, it's 51 weeks total so they don't have to give me any benefits, the cunts.

Thus I would feel no remorse in some retaliatory dicking them about!

i thought some of you may be interested in what a (shitty) offshore cabin looks like. it even has a porthole, look!

you know it's an old-skool one when it has an ashtray in the toilet and a sticker that say 'no smoking in bed'. ;)

haha, nah the room mate was sound as fuck, thank god. he was a pro who kept himself to himself. it was quite funny actually, he had every single little thing down to a routine.

trust me folks, the room was absolutely mingin'. my bare feet never even touched the carpet once. this is why flip flops or sandals are a must. but the room was an oasis of cleanliness compared to the rest of the platform, YUCK! :p

It looks worse than some of the hostels I've stayed in but much better than some of the others as well. :D

I will be looking for a job within the next few weeks, looks like I can't hold off the real world much longer. :)

I guess if you are being paid hundreds per hour that you have to take the rough with the smooth ;)

Had to hand in my notice at my part time (but permanent) position to get some diferent experience from a different part time position which will hopefully get my one full time job.
I hope this is the right thing to do and I don't end up with no jobs at the end of the temporary job =/

4. got a call from my pimp today (the agency from no. 1), who's putting me forward for a systems job. 70 mile commute everday to aberdeen (total round trip), 8 month contract, monday-friday office work, but silly money. they're in a major rush to get 'someone like me'...
dammit, DENIED. they've changed their mind. :|

Finish uni (well, my money runs out) in Sheffield on 25th September and I start my NEW JOB as an R&D scientist for a biotech/molecular biology company in London on 29th September.

Fucking SWEET. =D

6-month contract due to come to an end soon. Trying to work out whether to hope it gets made permanent, or apply for a more senior job at same organisation.

Seems like no-brainer, but: the senior job would be replacing three people. It would be insanely busy, for probably 25% more cash, at best. I've been in the current job for only 4 months, completely new sector for me, so part of me wants to spend some time getting really good at what I do and get some solid time in one position, before moving on.
