That Nathan Fake track sounds like something you could make quite easily on the Propeller heads rebirth software from about 15 years ago which was reproducing a sound before that . Or long before that on hardware. Its all coming full circle with the current deep house craze and the old rave style sounds in tracks even in the charts. What once sounded fresh and underground could no be the backing sounds to Leona lewis track or Cheryl Cole song. Might be a conversation for a music gibberings thread.

Are we not allowed to talk in here? :D Yes it does sound very old skool, to me that's not a negative though. Fake is good with what might be called "math techno", patterns that form higher order patterns over time or seemingly conflicting rhythms that resolve over time. I don't mind that he does it with a traditional acid synth patch.

@KnockI like that old sound.I am enjoying some of the new ways they are using old sounds recently. Its like old wine in new bottles. Youth culture will always find a way to have some sounds that are different or extreme to be rebellious. But they always end up becoming mainstream eventually in a synth line or bassline or guitar riff. I assume the record companies hire really talented people to do the backing music to Girls aloud etc

In general I agree with you, but that tune was released in 2005 ;). I know what your saying about deep house being in the charts being pretty lame, but as with anything, there's the commercial sounding shit, and the interesting underground stuff. Just gotta sort out the wheat from the chaff, as with any genre really.

Here's a nice oldish house tune man, cost me £1 off discogs :D, one benefit of older tunes. That whole youtube channels got some top tunes on it

Haven't been able to get this tune out of my head all day after my mate dropped it in a set last night, blew my mind!
