Brimz that is fuckin random mate I was just looking for a copy of their album Comin' Out Hard to download right this minute before I came into this thread..

So fuckin dope this track

'ey up, Brimzini :)

Tried asking you in the tunes thread t'other night but missed you so will try again... What do you think about Wu Tang's decision to only press one copy of their new (double) album and sell it to the highest bidder? Apparently the rest of us will only get the chance to hear it at art galleries and museums - one-off events only, no singles, no radio play, no interwebz leaks or release. I think it's a brilliant publicity stunt (the bit about the one copy being hidden in the Sahara and taken off to market by camel train was especially pleasing) but also maddeningly frustrating. There's probably a point in there somewhere about hip-hop's extreme materialism but I won't make it too deeply.

It is an interesting question as to whether an album can become fine art. Does the fact you have to go to an art gallery to hear it make it art or is it just outrageously pretentious? Without actually hearing the album it's hard to form a firm opinion, but in the absence of hearing it I guess it could be argued that it is instead a piece of conceptual art. I'm actually enough of an art ponce to go along with the latter which would also mean the music is of secondary importance. Statement on their website suggests that the conceptual art angle is the intent: "Industrial production and digital reproduction have failed. The intrinsic value of music has been reduced to zero. Contemporary art is worth millions by virtue of its exclusivity. This album is a piece of contemporary art.". Being a Wu Tang fan the music is not of secondary importance though and not being able to hear it is annoying and I must say feels exclusive in the less-pleasing sense of the word.

What u think of Crazy Titch ?

Imo the best lyricist to come out this country , shame he is doing 30 years in the can .:\

You set 'em up and I'll knock 'em down for ya, Brimz ;)

As for Mr Titch, can't say I'm impressed. Don't like his vocal style (I'm far too old and unhip-hoppy to get away with using the word 'flow' :o) - all shouty-shouty with no finesse - and lyrics didn't impress at all. Partly a stylistic thing - all that macho aggression stuff bores the shit outta me unless it's done in great style. He's not got the style to make up for the fairly bog-standard abuse and braggadocio to my ear. I did pick out the odd line which was pretty good but was just the odd line. Not impressed I'm afraid, Brimzini. I suspect I'm not the target market though.
