This is where i'm coming from .

Jay has always spoken about the Marcy Projects where he grew up & gives the impression that he cares about the place .
So what has the multi millionaire ever done for the place ? Nothing . Maybe if he gave a shit he could get a community centre built down or do something for the kids down their it wouldn't exactly bankrupt him would it ?
I'm not saying he should look after his drug dealing mates at all .

The theme of his fellow label mates falling out with him is concurrent throughout his whole career . Beanie Siegel ? Freeway ?
Bleek i mean fukin hell he is a very poor MC & is a bit of a joke tbh so
I was a fan of Jay Z he has made some dope tunes but these days i don't have much time for him . He has become more of a celebrity than a Hip Hop artist.

Oh yeah when he was CEO of Def Jam it was the worst time of the labels history he made some terrible signings.

Aye, he was a shite CEO, I'll give you that. That's when a lot of people fell out with him (because he, obviously, cared about his own career more than theirs).

Sigel, Freeway etc? Naaaaa. Fuck them. Beanz was giving it big licks about how he was skint & Jay wasn't paying him. Cunt was driving about in 3 Bentleys at the time. Fucking 3!!!! He can't drive 3 cars at once. He's, for lack of a better expression, a stupid hood n****r. He was blasting money he hadn't even made yet on all sorts. The sort of cunt that gets a million pound so spends a million pound that day then complains that he's not making any money.

I dunno about Freeway. Again, I think a lot of these cunts were just wanting more than they were getting/deserved. Jay-Z was/is a much bigger artist than them, they were probably looking at the fact that Jay had the £800,000 car while they had the £200,000 car & thinking that was in some way wrong. Freeway is another "stupid hood n****r". I've seen videos of him acting like a silly little hood-rat & he's only about 4 foot tall.

Obviously there was some shadiness going on, but it's the fucking music industry. It's supposed to be shady. You think Jay-Z is going to make the choice of boosting his career or boosting a daft cunt like Beanie Sigel's? Hardly a difficult choice. You've got to a bit ruthless & shady to get to where he's at. If he was putting all his boys on & paying them 10x what they were due just because he could & they wanted it then he's be wouldn't be as loaded as he is. His aim is obviously to make himself rich.

He's more of a business man than a rapper these days. He doesn't really do much "celebrity" stuff to be fair. His private life is pretty damn private considering how famous he is.

The Bleek thing wasn't in relation to how good a rapper he is or isn't. I meant that he clearly sorts out his proper friends - ie, Bleek is pretty shite & can't sell a fucking record, he's still getting that money from Jay-Z though because he's actually his friend rather than a business associate. "Bleek could be one hit away his whole career, as long as I'm alive he's a millionaire, & even when I die he's in my will somewhere..."

I think if you'd to really look into you'll find he's done plenty for "the hood", just that he's not went all out publicity machine with it. Like I said, more businessman than celebrity.

Oooft, some rant haha.

Jancrow- That sounds like a fucking amazing gig. Where is it?

I've sussed it You are Actually Memphis BLeek !!

Either that or Jays Official BL EADD Press officer.

left me tele on while i nipped out to come back n find that the legend that is THe BIZ MARKIE was on bio channel Celebrity house hunters lol!!

Does anyone like Cannibal Ox? Listening to The Cold Vein it's pretty good.

50 Cent - Guess Who's Back is a pretty epic album. Better than any of his commercial shit as usual.

hmm, I'm still a young'un really (22 at the moment) so think first I grabbed was dre's 2001 cd as a kid...so nothin classic, but i spend most of my listening now on late 80s early 90s releases, just grabs my attention more than most else and suits my tastes

2001 is definitely a classic. You just get the 'purists' frowning at anything commercial. But a good start to your hip-hop listening career. Just hope Detox comes out soon but I doubt it, he seems to havre lost the hunger his last few songs have been average. Today's hip-hop is ridiculously shit for the most part.

Yeah 2001 was a defining album . Dre is very influential always has since he cut loose from DEathRow of course his work up to & inc then was amazing & also he was quite consistent with his output.

He had to be cos of his position at Deathrow . Suge Knight would have not got in the Gansta Rap History without The Dre . Even with Pac on the roster.
If you listen to everything from N.W.A on to 2001 & the stuff he did for Eminem & Fiddy. It's about as consistently good production as you can get.

I don't think that Dre is still hungry or has a message to pass on so the only way to get him in the Studio is with $$$$.
He has his legacy & he doesn't need anything material .
The only thing that he hasn't done is get a N.Y MC a great on a Album . He tried with Rakim , remember ? Just that one single they couldn't gel together i heard.
I would of loved it if him n RA, could of hit it off.

The best stuff of the last few years he has given to Crooked I . As good a West Coast MC as their is . Says lots doesn't it. The N.Y golden generation of the early 90s WU, Boot Camp Click, Masta Ace have aged better than their west side brothers.
People who were hot like Kurupt, MC Eight , don't seem to have aged as well . I'm talking lyrically .

When your nearer 50 than 40 rhyming about that Gansta Shit is just wrong . The only way to do is by using an alt. & metaphor like the EASt Coast finest have always been doing .

Yep he is a legendary producer no ifs and buts. His rhymes may be ghost written but who gives a fuck! Yeah his best decision was to leave Deathrow, that place was fucked up by the sounds of it. Apparently he left with nothing but joined up with the likes of Scott Storch to create the Aftermath empire. Legend of the game. Not heard any of Rakim collabs but by the sounds of it that wouldn't work anyway just completely different styles. He's getting old now and has probably grown tired of the whole scene and I don't blame him tbh. The amount he's sitting on I would have quit fucking years ago. i heard regarding the Detox album that he's trying to move away from the Gangsta shit as that has been done and dusted. He said something about doing a hip-hop musical or something not sure what that would entail. I think he's done but he could just come back and surprise everyone and change the game for a third time round who knows. The game is crying out for some change right now that's for sure.

^ Dre's a producer, not a rapper. I don't care if Jay-Z wrote Still Dre. I care that Dre produced The Chronic (& 2001, both classics imo) along with many of the finest beats other rappers have been on.

I doubt Detox will ever come out. I don't think Dre will ever be happy enough with it, especially after all this time & so many songs binned, to release it. He doesn't have to, as has been said, so he probably doesn't want to drop a half-shite LP that ruins his legacy.

I'd love to hear it, but I'd rather it didn't come out at all than it came out & was shite.

My mate's going to go as Flava Flav for Halloween, but he's going to get a fucking silly sized clock (even sillier than Flav's), like one off a wall lol. That's just reminded me, I've to send him pictures of all my "mad shite gangsta hoodies" (his words) so he can borrow one.

Why was Flava Flav in the news?
