I'll start a separate one for my thread, no need to change this one.

I really can't get my head around how your idea works? Who chooses the order of the film selecters? How do you incorporate new members? How do you keep the people who have to wait 3-4 months+ interested? Also, what are the pros apart from getting people to watch films they wouldn't otherwise watch - which this thread has already seemingly achieved? Via this method Goon would have been totally bypassed, and rightfully so cus no one liked it. Under your method everyone would have watched it (or no one at all) and they would all be pissed off and probably stop being involved in the thread? Granted I wouldn't have wasted my quarterly opportunity to force a film on everybody on Goon, but that's not the point :D

fundamentally flawed concept. since 'better', as we've already established with Goon, is subjective. same as rating systems. my original intent was to be able to give a poster the opportunity to dispell the rating theory and come up with some suggestions that no one would really think of, or immediately would say nah to ... but will be surprised by when they watch em ... or films that get an imdb 5, but are real gems

I meant that more as a flippant remark, like - so fuck if they don't get their suggestion seen?

I like this current thread because the concept is simple, nominate films, vote for films, watch film, talk about film.

And as I said earlier, if someone is going to nominate themselves then they most likely have a film in mind to suggest, so why not just keep it as it is (same concept FILM CLUB) and have people nominate a film, if you want to remove the posters name then a mod could organise it if any are willing.

Also, do you really expect people to participate in two film clubs, one that is simple like this, nominate, vote, watch, discuss, or yours which is going to lead to the problems that MSB has pointed out. Even doing two EADD film clubs that were the same wouldn't generate as much detailed discussion about each film in each IMO.

Marmz, just get on board with this one and see how it goes, it's really not that much different from the idea that you had which sparked this thread, just because it's not exactly what you had in mind doesn't mean it wont achieve the same aims. I did nominate a kind of well known cult classic in Primer, but I'm sure that most people are going to suggest films that they like or want to watch and also expect everyone else to have not seen the film. I haven't seen any of the other 4 suggestions, you may have, but there is going to be weeks when you haven't and you get to see a film that someone else has suggested and won the vote but you hadn't really thought of watching in the past.

I'm happy to drop it, I was probably a bit harsher than usual, am on a bit of a comedown and haven't slept, so sorry, was just trying in my own weird way to get you to give this thread and club a trial run before you start your own competition thread.
