Democracy only encourages mediocrity. The Westminster system allows for members to exist who do nothing to enhance society, rather their goal is to simply appeal to just over half of a small population pool. All men are not created equal. In an ideal utopia we may all be born and given the chance to develop into better people, but reality is if you take a random sample of 100 people, I'd probably only trust 20 of them to look after my children for more than a day.
Great dynasty's throughout history were built around the ruling class being the smartest and best. Sure it was a genetic lottery to be born into this system, but at least you were afforded the best education from the greatest minds. By giving every person an equal vote, society is being dragged done by the common denominator. It might not sit well in many people's mouths to accept that someone else is better at making decisions in how society is run. At the very least I'd prefer some sort of examination of worthiness before you are allowed to vote. Idiots and dickheads shouldn't be allowed to drag us down. In an ideal world we would hand pick the smartest and most creative, and train them to become leaders. If there needs to be a vote on something at least only allow those with some sort of credentials.
If you are a staunch supporter of democracy you cannot be against vaccines. By not vaccinating your child you are essentially saying that your child is worth more than the rest of society. The chances of an adverse reaction to a vaccine is less than one percent, far less than the chance of catching such horrible diseases 60 years ago. My wife's two uncles both died of polio and my own father lost three class mates to the disease. The fact that none of you have witnessed such a horrible disease is because of vaccinations. At some stage you have to accept that for the common good of society your genetically inferior offspring may be better being sacrificed.
If big Pharma has a strong conspiracy they are doing a piss poor job of it as the planets population continues to soar and life expectancy increases every year. Corruption will almost always exist when such services are corporatised, but the alternative such as increasing taxes to pay for scientific research and development is never popular. Once again, the majority of knuckle draggers deciding what is good for society and pulling us towards mediocrity.
