Cats or Dogs?

Years ago my wife got me 2 puppies.
I absolutely loved those dogs the older they got. They were always there waiting at the door to welcome me home from work.
I got so much pleasure and fun & love from these two dogs. They were always there for me and they are deffo mans best friend.
They loved me unconditionally and I loved them the same.
I cried for days after each of them passed away. I have nothing but great memories of them both and will never forget them and the love I got from them and the love I held for them.
My user name is made up from their names Max & Alfie.

Dogs!

Cats are boring, not as intelligent, and I'm allergic to them :\

However, I had to spend £300 on new seatbelts last month because somebody chewed through them! No Felix would have done that!

Cats are not as intelligent as dogs?!? 8o8(8o

I can only assume you either have only experience of mongo cats/hawking dogs or are just a bit thick ;)

Dogs make pigshit look thin. There's good reason posties can punt a puppy but would have nae chance twatting a cat.

Tis one of many, many minus points when considering the shiteness of dogs. A cat sees an owner as an inferior being (and often isn't far off the mark). A dog is just slob, flob and shite coated in fur and sees owner as God (which isn't far off the mark either).

Well I've not read any research on it, but I'm gonna have a punt and say they are.

Cats just seem to work off instinct, eat, fight, shag!

Besides, intelligent or not, everybody knows dogs are more fun

Can't say a dog has ever approached fun for me. Cats have on many occasion tho. Hence the poll, I spose.

On the intelligence thang - dogs just worship the food 'n' tickle giver, cats worship none but themselves: Dogs = Christian Furries, Cats = Sleek Satanists. Therefore, cats win :p

It would seem after my 15mins of reading others research that this is a grey area, even the measurement of intelligence isn't clear cut. This has some interesting summaries and references as well but the web is full of discussions on the subject.

Even though a am far from cat lover and my hound is dearly loved by me and th family I've never owned cat so have no opinion, reading the information we would be here all year discussing it and never get to an answer. I'm not really convinced you can measure intelligence in some kind of linear all encompassing scale.

@ shambles & dan: I think you're both wrong. the truth is somewhere in the middle. ;)

dogs can be trained to do a human's bidding, which is something that is mistaken for intelligence.

cats are too clever to fall for that trick. they are the ones that do the training.

I like to pretend that I trained Joe to meow in a cute manner at feeding time, but I know that he's really just trained ME to feed him.

You have not met my dog ...Spoon I defy anyone to not love that animal and he's not a dog that wants allot of fussing or is particularly motivated by food...he is the Spoon;)

I must (grudgingly) admit that one or two dogs have gotten me to purr just a bit here and there. Sadie/Roby's doggy got way more hand-on-fur action than I generally give... but is an exception to the broad rule for me. Dogs just tend to irritate the shit outta me, Suspect it may be down to the sacred dog/owner relationship - outsiders just don't get it.

As a minor aside, I'm a cat (or rabbit) in Chinese astrology which surely means shit all... but I do seem to have a hell of an affinity with (other folks') cats nonetheless. To the point of properly annoying their actual owners in many cases. Can't help being a pussy-magnet :o

Frankly shit gif (apologies Arnold - sure it's not your best work) does remind me of a comedy moment or several involving dogs being terrified/battered by cats. One of those very general things that you kinda wonder how got so backwards in popular consciousness really. Never saw a dog chase a cat but saw many a dog cat-a'twatted.

My stepdad had a massive (and I do mean properly massive) Alsatian. Rescue dog that had been battered senseless all its life previously and hence was somewhat... aggressive it could be said. Anyone other than said stepdad/owner/god took their life in their hands going within a country mile of the poor beast... but one swat from one of the many neighbourhood cats sat on the fence taunting it and it turned pussy everytime. Still rather take on any one of those cats than that big fuck-off scary dog tho 8o

Can we do the right hand v' left hand thing again?

left handed cat's roll better joints ;)

Although i've voted for dogs and they are my personal favourite, cats arent far behind. Took this pic of our a lazy ass cat Alan i thought i'd share...

He is a cute little bugger, and seems to have taken over our street by bullying all the older cats,he always comes back with scratches on his nose lol, also he must have found a mouse hotspot as he has bought back 3 "presents" in the past 2 weeks :|

This was him keeping me company while i was ill :)

He is a lil dude,Never liked cats till a few years ago and a night of mdma round a mates was spent with a purring pussy following me around all night lol, since then i've really seen the side of cats people love.

Our cat was found as a kitten who wouldnt leave my mates house, kept coming round for food, didnt look in a very good state, very scared and skittish. It was around bonfire night aswell so think that may have scared him as he was only young. He couldnt keep him as he already had three cats and as soon as i found out and seen him i couldnt resist. Hes come out of his shell so much since then, got his weight back (and a little extra!),got his confidence, loves to play and generally seems to laze around getting shedloads of attention off our neighbours lol

Beginning to wonder if i should have voted for both now!

Peace
FH

Dogs all the way, I have both but training dogs is amazing, they become so obedient, and it's nice to be part of the pack, plus they are funny as fuck! I wouldn't expect a non dog owner to have the same passion for dogs but they really are a mans best friend! :)

FH I love your cat <3 you should have voted for both, I'm sad to see dogs in the lead :( haha..

I suppose I may be a little biased as we've always had cats, but I know my gran's dog well and while lovely cats are just so much cooler %) I love their smart but entirely indifferent attitude, yet they can be really affectionate too. Cute as well, of course <3

Kate, nooo right handed! :D

Lol thanks, most people go a bit soppy when they see him!

I have to agree with you on cats being cooler, they tend to live off their own back.If the cats fancies a fuss he'll have one,but if you fancy fussing the cat, half the time he aint interested! lol

I think the reason i picked dogs is because of the companionship you get from them, ive always grown up with dogs and have some amazing memories with them, they really do trust you with their life and will always be there when you fancy a fuss. Unfortunately this dedication to the owner also means its easy for idiots to turn them into violent weapons. They say a dog is a reflection of their owner and i really can see it in some cases!

FH :)

It depends on what the Dog is like .

Personally i have enough problems looking after myself let alone a Dog or Cat .

I did have a cat that used to come round my old flat it was a homeless cat n would go round the estate getting looked after by many residents .
I used to keep a litter tray n some food n water on my balcony for when iot decided to visit me .
Everyone loved that cat it got well looked after.

I always had dogs when I was growing up so have voted dogs. However, we had a cat decide to come and live with us when our kids were little. It stayed for 14 years. We used to call it drug cat cos we wouldn't see it for hours on end then as soon as we popped a pill or snorted a line, before the drug even took effect the bloody thing would come and sit and stare at us. It never ever let us pick it up unless we were off our tits on mdma then it would be quite happy to let us dance around the room with it for hours.

You guys haven't lived until you've laid in bed peaking on MDMA/6-APB with a warm purring cat lying across your chest.

Your body feels like its made of catty magic. Sublime %)
