I thought this might be a good idea for a thread, IDK. But basically what are some dysfunctional family holiday moments you've had that you can look back and laugh at now? Even tho I'm a pessimist I think sometimes it's good to be able to laugh at stupid shit that's happened. So yeah, I intend for this thread to be kind of non serious.

Anyways, the only one I can think of right now for me is I totaled my car last year late on Christmas day. Was probably going 65 or so around a 25mph corner. Besides not hurting anyone, I was glad that I hadn't put the 700 dollars or so of work into it that I was planning on. I've since learned my lesson I think... That speeding is fun, but totaling your only car isn't.

Another...

Someone I used to know told me one time that everyone was drinking and I guess started arguing or whatever, and her mom ended up throwing the Christmas tree. lol

So what are yours?

^I wrecked a car around holiday time, too. When I was 17 I basically did the same thing, flying like 60ish around a turn where most people go no faster than 35. It was at the very top of my street, so I locked the brakes up trying to stop and just went straight into a telephone pole, through it and hit another parked car. It actually happened the day after Thanksgiving, best known as Black Friday. No seat belt but I was fine aside form maybe a mild concussion. It took me one more bad accident about 2 months later to learn my lesson, but after that (and losing my license for 9 months) I have been a saint behind the wheel.

As for dysfunctional things on actual holidays. Well there is about a 50% chance there will be a drunken argument on any major holiday in my family. There were occasions were I was hungover it an argument ensued because of me not wanting to do anything....once to the point where I just up and left before Thanksgiving dinner and didn't return until hours after it. I just remember as a child my parents who fight on holidays like clockwork. Now I work t diffuse those fights, plus they are too old to put in the effort the use to. Those fights between my parents and how miserable they always seemed with all the holiday plans really made me wonder who so much effort is put into doing things we obviously would rather do without, just because of the stupid holidays.

Yeah mine happened about a 1/4th of a mile from my house lol. Goddamn it, now that I think about it more I can't laugh so much except for the fact that I wouldn't have gotten that much money out of my car anyways.

Im going to move this to the festivus form as I think the posts may get a little strong for TDS guidelines. Good thread Nutty.

TDS-> Festivus.

I once ended up stuck, I fell all cocked in the bathtub and couldn't get out.. ended up puking all over myself.. and had to helped by relatives to clean up and back to bed. good crassmass eve.. have been way to wired to eat festivus dinner a few times and was forced to do the push the food around and force a few bights down with a high ball chaser.. had two friends get into a fist fight all drunk and wake the whole condo up on Christmas eve.. I didn't even get out of bed.. had a friend light himself on fire with a turkey fryer when he kicked it over on accident and the oil got on his leg.. third degree burns on his foot the poor guy.. dropped a few people off at the ER with OD's on new years.. ahh the festivus time of year.
