Misc Dyethyl ether (diethyl-ether)

30-60 mins, tops, affter you stop inhaling. The smell of ether hangs around for much longer. It's short lived because it boils below body temperature.

If you are sloppy you can easily go through litres of ether in a session. Ether evaporates very readily and if you go splashing lots of it onto a rag, most of it will just evaporate away. If you are very careful with your administration of ether you can greatly reduce how much you need to get effects.

If you want to go on a ... journey, I would suggest you have a sitter, and take a real hot shower afterwards (1 hour @ 40C) to help sweat out all the ether.

At lower doses ether is very much like alcohol or other sedatives. A common comparison is "like drinking a six-pack in a few seconds" (HST said 23 bottles of wine). Once you start getting into the higher doses it's almost like ketamine or something - your senses are so fucked up you start to hallucinate.

Seriously not kidding about the smell. It is almost impossible to cover up the fact you smell like a carburator afterwards. Don't be doin ether and then going to a family dinner.

Ether is such a simple molecule I would have a hard time saying that that's the only cause of its effects.

It probably has effects like most of the other solvents do, by disruptiang the shape of the cell membrane.

The suggestion I have is: Don't pour ether on a rag and then fuck around (or it will vanish into thin air), pour ether on a rag and inhale it straight away until the rag is dry. Use small amounts to minimise waste.

I've accidentally inhaled a decent amount of ether while in a lab and I honestly don't see how anyone could enjoy that feeling. I'm not sure if I could willingly inhale ether because of its smell and don't even want to imagine smelling like that. It's an odor that you never forget.

The best way that I can describe the effects of ether was like being uncomfortably drunk after a long night of drinking.

dunno, i've read some reports and it seems interesting. however if the duration is so short if it becomes overwhelming/uncomfortable i'll know it will pass soon :D

Ether is really really sedating...

After about a 10ml session it was like I was taking a 30 pack straight to the head with a fucking funnel down my throat...

You do have to be careful, as you can pass out without even knowing it.
You will just wake up like you would in a recovery room like WTF?

It’s the perfect way to get super wasted super fast...

But huffing does have its prices... IT WILL MAKE YOUR SKIN FLAKE IF YOU CONSTANTLY HAVE CONTACT WITH IT. It dries the shit out of stuff it touches...

Just pour some on a rag, fold it over a couple times, cover your face and take a big old deep breath. Sit back, now you're high on ether. I think you're overcomplicating things quite a bit.

^^
it's not ''overcomplicating things'' dude. It's just wanting to gather the more possible knowledge about using a drug before actually doing it. Better keep asking the same question and understand how to properly do a drug, than not feeling anything or being overwhelmed by it because i didn't ''overcomplicate'' things

All i'm saying is, Your lungs will only allow you to inhale a certain concentration. It's like any other inhalant, you concentrate and inhale the fumes. I can see the value in trying to understand the dosage but i have never seen anybody actually attempt to measure an inhalant like that. The only way to do too much is to take successive breaths without breaking for air, and the only way to do too little is not to do it. There's no way you can inhale that which is too much physically all in one breath, and mentally the drug itself has extremely dissociative, sensorial deprived qualities that last a couple minutes at best, so there's no potential for a scary trip or anything like that.

the only way you could overdose on ether would involve passing out with a rag draped over your face

if you push the dosage too high you'll just collapse and end up on the floor.

The real only surefire way to overdose is to ingest too large of an amount of it...

You gotta swallow it basically to even get close...

You will blackout and passout before any real danger if you are just inhaling it. But, it can damage your skin if you keep in contact long enough. That’s about it.

ooook thanks everyone for the USEFUL info! so yesterday night i had the opportunity to try the ether. put a small quantity on a rag and started to breathe from it, the smell was HORRIBLE and it was impossible not to cough to the first 2 breaths.. but - it did get me high! it was like a light alchohol buzz, very pleasant yet very gentle. I prolly inhaled too little to experience the real effects of the ether but it was my firts time, so...
the "real" high lasted for like 30 second and then it subsided and i felt still a little high for like ten minutes and then it was gone.i repeated the use for like 3 or 4 times cause it was really pleasant.
hope to try more soon!

Also, ether is flammable as hell. No open sparks. Don't store it for longer than bout 6 months or it might go off and form explosive crystals...

Hmm, I have a can of pure diethyl ether (I think 500 ml) standing in the basement for ~6 years, forgot about it and never opened it. Maybe you could estimate how dangerous these explosions get ?

Used to go to a local pub and drink pints of 1/2 IPA a bottle of Gold Label topped off with ether.Don't like the sound of explosions!

Nmda antagonist activity?

I imagine ether is (like ethanol) a lot of GABA-A -- even though the Wiki seems to make a point that the enhanced NMDA activity makes ether more dissociative at higher doses (like ketamine, as mentioned). But like ethanol, ether sounds like it'd probably be a messy molecule that hits a lot of stuff at once.
