There r two cough syrups with only DXM in them available here.
Do NOT get anything else with any other ingredients in them;
if they contain:
paracetamol = DEATH is a possibility; the amount of DXM u need would put the paracetamol consumed in the fatal region depending on the person and the health of their liver.
(Cold and flu type ones)
pseudoephedrine = anything over first plateau very dangerous; an irresponsible combination due to cardiovascular stress; high blood pressure etc
(All Logicin, and the majority of others)
antihistamines: i was stupid enough to make this mistake; i am sure i nearly died; fastest heart rate probably ever found in a human being and truly horrific hallucinations lasting 6 hours; and that was from an intended plateau ONE
dose of DXM.
(a Few; Benadryl the main culprit)
Guanifessin (an expectorant): probably make u sick; dont get it
(will be in all syrups designed for a CHESTY cough; DXM is for a DRY cough)
Ok, of the two products containing only DXM, one is completely unsuitable as it contains SORBITOL. (Benadryl extra strength) U know what that means; excess consumption produces a laxative effect. Once again i found out the hard way and again only a plateau one dose of DXM. If a whole bottle had been drunk i am pretty sure i would have turned inside out; (sorry if people r eating atm
Robitussin DX; only DXM; 30mg per 10ml; no sorbitol; the only one to get.
U will also find the other DXM syrups containing other substances contain LESS DXM; e.g: 15 or 20 mg per 10ml. Hence its more expensive and u have to drink more additionally to it being rather dangerous.
Not sure on policy for naming products but it was named above and it went unchanged; if this has breached anything please change it.
