I hate to beat a dead horse but i've searched all the related threads and I couldnt find much info on vicks nyquil as a viable solution to "robo" on.

wow, those ingredients would make for one hell of an uncomfortable trip. Antihistamines make you very delerious. stay away! take it from someone of a screen name of this nature, you want a cough medicine with only dxm as an active ingredient

You really don't want to take too much doxylamine, its basically the same as diphenhydramine, except a good deal more sedating. Best bet is to get the kind with only DXM in it, and if absolutely can't find that, you can use the kind with guaifenesin and DXM, as long as you don't use alot of it daily for a long time, its usually ok. Vicks's Nyquil will most likely knock you out, and if you take too much it can be dangeous, cause brain damage and extreme delerium, which sometimes sounds fun, but ususally is not very pleasant. A true DXM trip is a way better experience, IMO.

Ewww, what are some names of the "pure" dxm cough syrups/gelcaps?
 
Look at the back of bottles. Take only the kinds that have DXM as the only active ingredient.
 
One variety of Robitussin contains only Dextromethorphan, 15%. It works very nice and the 8 oz bottle contains close to 800mg. 8o

How much would be the suggested dose for a first timer?
 
According to Erowid:

Everyone is different, some have reported strong effects from as little as 50mg, others say they have to drink multiple 8 oz bottles. IME, 200-300mg will probably blow you away on the first time. I'm somewhat sensitive to the effects of DXM, and experienced full blown ego loss on 775mg, followed by 48 hrs of very unpleasant death trip. IMO ego loss, regardless of how many claim is "enlightenment," is not at all pleasant. The so-called "death-trip," where you feel like you're dying or dead/ghost/paralized/etc. is not a fun experience at all. Take it slow and easy, DXM has a slow onset, and may take 1-2 hrs to take full effect.

Yes, at least twice on plant based DMT/harmal extracts. DXM trips don't compare, but ego-loss is ego-loss IME, and its not pleasant any way you come by it, IMO.
 
I'm sure there are probably 6745785 threads about it, but for me, ego loss is that feeling of complete nothingness, where there is absolutely nothing exists, including myself. Just an endless sensation of floating (not floating, exactly, but there's no other way to describe it, falling perhaps :|) in an endless sea (not a sea) of nothing, with no self, no world/universe, no thoughts/emotions/etc, just endless nothing with no meaning, but still basically conscious. The first thoughts that return, for me at least, always: fear.

That depends on the person really. I have no problem taking pills and have a bitch of a time downing 4+oz of cherry-menthol tussin, but I've never felt worse in my life than the time I took 24 robo cough gels. That many pills in my stomach made me feel like I was legitimately dying. I rarely use dxm these days, but when I do I take a few (6 or less) robo pills and top it off with a few oz of "safe tussin" (orange flavored diabetic tussin--much better than tussin DM) via a shot glass and chaser.
 
IME, sugar ususally intensifies and lengthens the DXM experience, and the diabetic formula is a good deal less potent.

They also contain something that makes them work as a laxative for alot of people. So if you do them be aware.

Even regular syrup can act like a laxative to me, and its not pleasant sometimes.

Most of what I've read suggests that the dose is dependent on body mass. The DXM FAQ linked to on Erowid gives a dosage chart (although I wouldn't trust everything in that FAQ; it isn't necessarily up to date).

The way people respond to DXM can vary because some people, for genetic reasons, don't have much functioning CYP2D6 (the enzyme that metabolizes DXM). I'd take a pretty low dose first if I were you, to make sure you aren't one of these people.
