DXM trip: fail

So my roommates and I decided to take Coricidin (yeah, I'm aware it's "bad stuff" and whatnot). There's 3 of us, they each took 12 and I took 14 total. We took them at the exact same time.
After about an hour and a half they started feeling it. I felt nothing. About three hours into it they were feeling like "astronauts on a mission" aka pretty good in human language. I still wasn't feeling a damn thing.
The whole night they were tripping out and having a blast, and I didn't get the slightest buzz. Nothing. I spent the rest of the night wondering why I did not trip at all. This is the first time this has happened to me.
I don't do DXM very often at all, so it couldn't be a tolerance issue. Last time I did was about 2 weeks ago with my roommates again, we had all taken 8 each, and we were tripping pretty hard. I hadn't done any DXM for MONTHS before that.
So this is the second time I've done DXM in months. Why and how would this happen? How could 420 mg's of DXM not phase anyone? I take 8 pills and I trip a decent amount, 2 weeks later I take 14 and I'm completely sober?? Doesn't make sense.
 
I'm willing to bet the problem was Coricidin. If you can, use Robitussin products only. They work the best (make sure the only active ingredient is DXM). Just chug the whole 8 oz cough syrup and you should be straight.

Yeah, I'm not planning on doing Coricidin again anyway. I'm just wondering how it's even possible that the same pills that my roommates tripped balls off of are the same pills that did absolutely nothing for me. I have not heard of this happening to anyone else.
 
DXM is metabolised by a liver enzyme (CYP2D6) that has a lot of genetic variability. This means some people will metabolise it very slowly and have overwhelming, unpleasant experiences on very low doses, while others will metabolise it very rapidly and require much higher doses to get psychoactive effects. If you really felt nothing, just try taking more next time?
 
What had you ate that day and how recently before dosing did you eat? Did you do any other drugs in the last week or so, and if so, what drugs were they at what dosages how long before this attempted trip?
 
doode this is a harm reduction forum. stop taking coricidin if you live somewhere in the united states you can get OTHER LESS DANGEROUS cold medicines that contain only dextromethorphan hbr as an active ingredient.

cpm or whatever is supper dangerous in high concentrations and NEGATIVELY EFFECTS your 'dxm trip' if thats what you want to call eating coricidin. the pills you and your roommates ate had all the same active and inactive ingredients in them (ALOT OF WHICH ARE SHITTY FOR YOU IF I HAVENT ALREADY SAID THAT) yours were not bunk.

sorry if that was an assholeish response but please dont eat that shit for your own sake man, eat some robo gels or read the erowid DXM faq found here ( http://www.erowid.org/chemicals/dxm/faq/dxm_faq.shtml ) to learn a tek to get fb dextromethorphan so your arent eating nastys. peace.
 
i still enjoy dxm sometimes although if i had the choice between that and any other psychadelic to trip on dxm would be my last choice. It takes me forever to metabolise dxm too, i think divine moments is right you just havent taken enough to get any effects and quite possibly are genetically resistant to it?
 
Go ROBO! not triple c's, robotussin is the best if you plan on doing the robot walk in the "Tussin World", the only active ingredient in it is just DXM... You'll never go wrong with one bottle of 4fluidoz or 20 pills 8D......... (but if you ever get a chance, just do some DMT instead!!!!!!!)
 
Sometimes it happens. I've taken rhe same dosage level once and it worked and then another time it didn't work. And DXM is pretty varied if there was food in your stomach. As you know CCC is bad for u I've personally overdosed twice on them. Go for the robo or do an extraction.
 
I'm not a huge fan of DXM
I seem to have an unusual tolerance to it
...anyone else have this problem?

I had a full bottle of Robotussin (600mg of DXM)
and i only had what seemed to be a 2d plateau trip, and not the high-end either
(i also had a few cones after downing the tussin, which i find quite beneficil to the trip)

quite interested in trying it again soon however
note: I had only ingested DXM twice before, both spaced quite some time apart
and had not eaten for at least 3 hours prior
 
this used to happen to my boy all the time. we used to do it a lot a couple years ago. we would always use the coricidin pills too. i would be sitting there tripping my ass off and he would be 100% sober. then there would be days where all of us felt like we got hit by a truck. we quickly found out how bad coricidin is and just stopped doing it all together.
 
Differences in genetics dictate the presence of a certain enzyme, which is responsible for metabolizing DXM in the liver. Don't remember its name.

Some people are extremely sensitive, others not so much. That's why it's good for someone new to start off with a smaller dose, and work their way up.
 
ccc's are bad, we all know this, but the fact is it could be the other ingredients negativly effecting you, id say go robitussin, or dexalone if u can find it, and try 600 mg, if u dont feel anything, then its most likely your body, Happy trippin :)
 
I just tried cvs tussin, 2 active ingredients dextromorpine(sp)10mg and guaifenesin 100 mg expectorant. Maybe I did it wrong, first I took my 20mg valium and 2mg xanax but held my 8mg suboxone just in case it made me sick. Nobody home but a friend lol at me for what he said was dumb when he did it.
I forgot that I didn't even eat anything in the morning when I did it. He said, chug half the bottle, you wont get anywhere otherwise, you may puke so stay near toilet.

Within an hour, I felt warm and then kind of similar effect when they are about to give you anesthesia, I got up,walked around and felt that "feeling" like you are in your body controlling your robotic body, but it was so lame compared to what it said in erowid.com. I was hopefull for a blast. It has been 2 hours since I titrated a bit more and a quarter or less of the bottle only is left. I just took my sub 8mg about an hour ago and I'm feeling ok. I didn't puke at all, wierd, is my liver unlucky where this stuff is a bummer, or do I need to try again next day?

Can't complain yet, I've had meds suddenly kick full on after an hour taking them. I have a strange body chemistry I've been told, I also had chronic ulcerative colitis way back when I was 19, now 39, after 2 major surgeries, whole colon removed with shitbag for 6 months, then colostomy takedown thank god and small pouch "j pouch" made out of some of my small intestine and hooked up to my rectum so I can go normal. Don't know if that effects robotrippin or trying to, but all I know is I can't take any extended or time release pills, because they will come through in the toilet, sometimes with writing still on em and just a hole in middle like a land mine that went off lol.

I remember my psych doctor tried me on wellbutrin xr and the pills just didn't dissolve at all hardly. Sucks because I can't take lovely Oxycontin, unless I compromise the time release mechanisim and measure the doses lol. Ha Ha, I feel kind of cozied up now since I took my sub, ha ha submarine, subway lol, get your suboxone at subway he he. Just kidding but man I"m so obsessed with getting blasted.

With a "hole in my soul", I will forever be an addict and will die from this disease lol. That's what I learned in detox/rehab. Here I am tryin to get high after about a month outta detox, but wait I already got high as a kite with lovely Vercet when my colon specialist did my annual rectal dialation etc under anesthesia. Before I went under, WOOO WOOO feel the love. I felt so high as a kite, I felt like I just was at the controls of my own plane, cleared for takeoff, I took off full blast it felt like and I was so high it looked like I was looking at myself from the ceiling. Doc came in and said how's it going? me: I'm great, holdoff as long as possible before putting me out, I feel like I"m flying my plane and loving it.

I woke up and that was one kick butt two days, well worth a 4 hour trip one way to see him, they treat me great there(sorry can't say anything for privacy reasons). All I can say it was cool, we had to stay overnight since I had to be in at 9am, while sleeping in motel. I suddenly early that morning vividly dreamed I was dieing from methadone being on it too long and I was looking at my body from way above and was so happy to have the "battles in life over with". Then damn, suddenly I woke up a half hour before we had to leave. Cool though
