Dissociatives [DXM Subthread] First Plateau Trips

Its seems like on higher (400+) doses I really dont feel the need to take any other drugs. I dont even smoke alot of cigarettes during the experience. But usually I feel incapacitated so that may have something to do with it.

Oh definately. I've done dxm alone dozens of times and I like just fine :)
Of course, I've not dosed anything less than 700mg in quite some time, so I dunno if lower doses might not be as much fun by themselves.
IMO weed compliments all drugs, but it dosen't mean dxm isn't worthwhile on it's own.
 
Zicam cough melts- Anyone have experience with these?

I bought these zicam cough melts which contain 30 mg of dxm per melt in a pack of ten for 300 mg of dxm hbr

I was wondering if anyone has tripped off these before by them selves or an experienced DXM'r has tripped off these with other DXM products and knew if they did anything.

I was over at the dextroverse and someone used these and didnt trip but thought this was because it lacked PEG to absorb.

Any help at all would be appreciated whatever it is.

***for you Experience DXM'rs**** if these lacked PEG could i put them in some tussin hoping to share its PEG or should i take a little alcohol with it to help absorbtion?
 
weed changes the trip. it gives you much more of a "stoning" in the head. I'll usually just slouch in front of my speaker, staring at all the colors and stars behind my eyelids.

a weed+dxm evening will be spent enjoying my altered perspectives, and a dxm-only evening will be spent using these altered perspectives to get a better and fuller look at myself. dxm by itself is amazing tool for self-analyisis. but if the goal is pleasure, weed compliments greatly.

to lsdongs:

i find sleep deprivation really detracts from the DXM experience. I think you'll end up blacking out for the peak, then just spend many hours uselessly retarded, instead of psychedelic. I don't take DXM without proper rest anymore... If you do enter the "hole", it's guaranteed you won't remember -anything- afterwards without proper rest. So it'll just feel like a blackout.
 
I'm not entirely sure that polyethylene glycol is required for dextromethorphan to be orally available. It is an alkaloid salt, so in theory it should be relatively well-absorbed in the gut. The nice little sublingual tabs that you speak of are far better than, say, gulping down the wretched ass-flavored dextromethorphan syrup [sideshow bob shudder].
 
As a total newbie to DXM or any other similar substances I tried to find as much info as possible, but it still isn't clear to me if the bottle I have is safe to take. If anyone can answer a few of my questions it would be greatly appreciated. :)

I visited my local pharmacy today to pick up my meds and noticed a bottle of cough syrup with Dextromethorfan HBr, so decided to buy it as it was very cheap. It contains 1,5 mg/ml Dextromethorfan hydrobromide monohydrate, is this the real stuff?

other ingredients are: methylparahydrobenzoaat (E 218 ), propylparahydroxybenzoaat (E 216), both are preservatives. It also contains saccharoïde natrium (E 954), sorbitol solution 70% (E 420), propyleenglycol (E 490), peach aroma and water. It doesn't contain any lactose, glutes or sugar.

I have a generic brand bottle containing 150 ml, so it would have 225 mg of DXM, and would like to know what dose is best for a first-timer (~170 cm, 52 kg). Also I take Tramadol for pain and want to know if this mix is safe, same goes for low dosages of Diazepam (5-10 mg). I won't drink while taking this stuff, but how does weed effect the trip? Same question for setting (music etc.)

Sorry for all those newbie questions, but I want to make sure it is the 'real deal' ;) Also checked out Erowid, but would like to hear from experienced users what is the best/safest way to have some fun this weekend =D
 
as long as the active ingridients of the bottle are -only- dxm, not other drugs, it should be fine. A trial run with only 1 bottle or 2/3 would be safest, to test for allergies. it you like it, i'd imagine 2 to 3 bottles would be fairly standard dosing range.

have you read the dxm faq? you should do the math and calculate out the exact dosage for a "1st or 2nd plateau" trip. (my favorite is 2nd to 3rd plateau) . i think a good dose range to look for is 6 to 8 mg/kg for your first trial.

for setting, i would reccomend being somewhere safe and comfortable, ie your house. having four walls is really nice. on high doses, i sometimes get freaked out in wide open spaces. play some music and have a couch or bed ready to lay down. resting boosts the trip, and cuts back nausea.

i'm not sure if recreational dxm is safe with tramadol. i'm pretty sure diazepam is okay.
 
if one was inclined to take something like benadryl with DXM to prevent (possible) itching and rashes, would that work?
 
taking 25 or 50 mg of benadryl with your dxm is perfectly safe, and i've heard a lot of people say it works. i've never had itches when I took benadryl with dxm, but.. i so rarely get the itches anyway that I just don't bother with benadryl anymore.

if you're itching, i'd reccomend trying a different source for dxm.

you're unlikely to rash. the itching should wear off by itself and leave no marks, unless you tear your skin up scratching (a lot of people seem to like to do this on dxm).
 
I haven't tried it, but have been working up the courage lately...

I just downloaded Massive Attacks discography and found a grat visualizer, so I'm sort of pumped :D
 
question: would birth control pills and dxm equate to a bad combination? thanks.

I just read the entire FAQ at erowid again and calculated my dose would be 4,5 mg/kg after drinking that entire bottle, which according to the FAQ is a decent second plateau. Also will be doing some good weed so that would add to the experience quite nicely :)

I will be doing this at home, so I should feel comfortable with the setting. Laying on the couch with music on sounds like a good idea, def gonna try it.

I forgot to mention I also take Ritalin during the day, but it's a low dose (40 mg) and plan to trip during the night, think I'll leave the tramadol out and get a few clonazepams/diazepams to help with anxiety.

I thought I'd just chill out on my first second plateau trip, listening to music or whatever. I ended up flipping on the couch and when I got scared my couch would break, I rolled around on the ground while getting tangled in my blanket for awhile.
