Hello, I have been recently researching DXM and am wanting to try it. I looked through our medicine drawer but all I have is DXM with Guaifensen and Phenylephrine so I know i shouldn't take that. I am willing to go to my local grocery store pick n save and get some DXM there. Now, I am only 16 years old and do not know if I am allowed to buy DXM as a minor. I sent an email to pick n save and asked them if minors are able to buy cough syrups under the age 18 at pick n save. Here is their response.
Any controlled substance cough syrup sold by prescription needs to have the identity of the purchaser verified to ensure the individual is over 18 but not with OTC cough syrups. The exception is for pseudoephedrine containing cough syrups sold by a pharmacist and recorded in a log as per State and Federal regs.
I hope that answers your question. Feel free to reach out if it hasn't.
Thank you,

Okay so what I got from this is that if you have a prescription in the pharmacy you obviously need an identity. For OTC syrups, they said this is not the case
. However, just so i don't go into pick n save looking like an idiot kid trying to buy cough medicine, could you guys confirm that this message says i can go into pick n save, get some cough syrup in the medicine aisle containing only DXM and use the self checkout without it calling for an employee to come over and confirm my id. Thanks for reading this
