DXM Questions

Hello, I have been recently researching DXM and am wanting to try it. I looked through our medicine drawer but all I have is DXM with Guaifensen and Phenylephrine so I know i shouldn't take that. I am willing to go to my local grocery store pick n save and get some DXM there. Now, I am only 16 years old and do not know if I am allowed to buy DXM as a minor. I sent an email to pick n save and asked them if minors are able to buy cough syrups under the age 18 at pick n save. Here is their response.

Any controlled substance cough syrup sold by prescription needs to have the identity of the purchaser verified to ensure the individual is over 18 but not with OTC cough syrups. The exception is for pseudoephedrine containing cough syrups sold by a pharmacist and recorded in a log as per State and Federal regs.

Okay so what I got from this is that if you have a prescription in the pharmacy you obviously need an identity. For OTC syrups, they said this is not the case =D . However, just so i don't go into pick n save looking like an idiot kid trying to buy cough medicine, could you guys confirm that this message says i can go into pick n save, get some cough syrup in the medicine aisle containing only DXM and use the self checkout without it calling for an employee to come over and confirm my id. Thanks for reading this :)
 
Yes, you may go buy DXM containing cough syrup but it will be a lower amount (probably 7.5mg per 5ml). Even if you do it, you could be turned away though. Which brand are you intending on buying?
 
I saw a bottle of Mucinex in there containing solely DXM probably around 350mg in the entire bottle. What do you mean turned away though. Couldn't I use the self checkout? In this pick n save, the self checkout isn't really monitored and they don't look at what is in the your cart or what you are buying. I am just wondering if the machine will set off a little alarm or something for an employee to come over to confirm my identity, but according to pick n save's response, it doesn't sound like they would. What do you think?
 
Well, some people do know why you're buying cough syrup, especially when you don't have a cough. If you pretend to have one and it's obvious you are faking, they are even more suspicious. Anyone selling can turn you away if they are suspicious, and the self checkouts could require staff over when selling potentially abusable or dangerous products.

Alright thanks for your feedback. If it isn't against their store policy to buy dxm for minors, i don't know why their checkouts would call over staff, but if they deny me, i might have to end up stealing it, even though it pains me. I will donate 10 dollars though just to help clear my conscience a little though, but if they won't sell it to me it may have to be done.
 
Don't steal it. If you're willing to steal to experience a high, then you have a problem (or you're going to end up with one).

Wait until you're older, get a friend to buy it, try buying it (and if you fail, try somewhere else), or go find something else to use.
 
OK i will try to buy some today and if they ask why i will say it is for my little sister. i will get some kleenex and.cough drops too. if they dont let me buy it then i will just get my friends brother to get some
 
If they do ask you any questions (some places do), they might ask have you tried anything else. If you can come up with two cough medicines that don't have DXM in it, you can say that they weren't good and the DXM one works for you (don't mention DXM obviously, just say its that specific brand).

Lol they wouldn't sell it to anyone under 18 as their policy, kinda how i thought. Does anybody have ideas on how to get some DXM lol? I am thinking of ordering it online, but then my parents would probably find it in the mail and be like WTF. I am thinking of opening a PO Box that wherever i order it online can send it to and then i can just go pick it up. Do you have to be 18 to get a PO box? If i order DXM online to my PO Box, will they let me take my package without having to be 18, or do they know what is inside the package? Lol i've been brainstorming so many things. Also, could my parents find out if i opened a PO box?

You don't know someone that is of age to buy it? If not offer someone that is some money to get it for you im sure they will do it. Just don't steal it.
 
Well none of my friends know about dxm and would think im crazy so id rather not go that way :p
