DXM Headache?

I have probably been using DXM (robo coughgels) on and off for a year or so. I would start off with maybe 200 - 300mg and my last doses would be about 1200mg tapered or sometimes not. After my last dose I noticed a weird headache for a few days after. I thought it would dissipate after 1 week or so. It is still here. It has been a little over 2 weeks. I think it might be fading, but very slowly. When I first had it, it was pretty harsh. It doesn't even really feel like a headache at all. I first felt a sort of pain behind my eyes and in the center, top of my head, and a sort of weird sensation of nerve movements or something like my head was kind of floating. Now it seems like it is mostly on the right side of my head and it comes and goes. I feel most of it at the end of a day before sleep.

Has anyone ever come across this?

When I used to use dxm on the daily I experienced an empty feeling in my head for weeks, nothing like a head ache although. I still see after images on everything and halos around people and things 24/7.

Might be withdrawal symptoms similar to SSRI/SNRI usage. SHould get better with time.

Lay off the DXM in the meantime.

Yeah, It doesn't really feel like a headache.. more of that empty sort of feeling or pressure or something. It's a really weird feeling. I will wait and see what happens.

I'm also having the same problem. I hadn't done DXM in almost a year when last week I took a 600mg dose. The next day my head was pretty tight and the hangover was worse than usual. It isn't like a headache, just a tightness on the right side of my head. Not really painful, but annoying as hell. I've noticed that it is slowly going away but after week one, still isn't completely gone. The right side of my neck has also been getting tight lately, and my right eye feels abnormally dry sometimes. This after-effect is a total pain in the ass.

I've only done DXM once, at what was pretty much allergy-test level, 120mg for 64kg. After, I had an itching pang in the back left of my head, and it hasn't gone away. It isn't exactly a headache, but as others here are describing, it's annoying.

Since you took a considerably larger dose, this effect might be magnified.

What brand did you use? I used Robitussin Dry Cough Forte, with 30mg DXM for every 10mL of syrup. Dextromethorphan hydrobromide is the only active ingredient; inactive ingredients are sodium benzoate, saccharin sodium, fructose and maltose, and glucose.

Yeah, I feel the annoying feeling/pain on the right side as well and behind my eyes. Some days it just feels like a normal headache, other days it feels like some weird sinus pressure or something. I have noticed that it might be calming down now but I still feel it when I wake up. It's been about 2 or 3 weeks now. I have had withdrawals off of some antidepressants before and it feels sort of similar to that style of headache, but less intense. I used the Robitussin Cough Gels for every trip.

It seems that we are having the exact same side effect and I also used the Robotussin cough gels. Maybe there is some kind of link, I don't know. I hope you feel better soon. Keep me updated on your status if you can.

You know what my advise is ''Go find a decent dissociative'' DXM sucks so badly IMO (i know this is not appropiate responce but the idea ofit is lame for a drug experience) I wanted to see what all the hype was about after hearing bout it 4 last 5 years, so i done the ''robo tripping'' and experienced minimal effects with horrible stomach and comedown effects

Is it really worth the high ?

Well, I used DXM for a good while with great effects. I have no idea why I was attracted to it. I never got any bad side effects until now. Even now when I was taking it, my tolerance was really high so I barely got any of the "good" effects I used to get. Having this headache is just a sign for me to move on.

Well each to there own! I probably would have enjoyed it more when i was younger

And yeah if your getting headaches (dont know why) it probably is time to move on ? look-up mescaline ;)

I used to take DMT back in the day, just was really attracted to DXM.

EDIT: It's been about 2 months after my last trip. The headache is still here. It is pretty mild but definitely there when I wake up and when I go to sleep. For those of you out there who actually use DXM, just be careful because you never know what side effects you might get. If anybody else has anymore info, please leave it in this thread. Thank you guys for your help!

Great now I've got evidence to support my delusions.

I was tripping for a 2nd or possible 3rd day in row at 300mg, I fell asleep halfway, nothing eventful happened. The next day I wake n' bake and immediately start tripping again. I don't have a fun time and end up experiencing a panic attack, I feel a section of my brain burn up. I lay down and force myself to fall asleep, it takes me about 30 minutes. It's been a good 4 months since then, and at times I can still feel the place my brain "burned up". It seemed like whenever I get stoned or trip on acid I can feel it more intensely, and sometimes it will hurt. I can "feel" it now, but it's been a good while since I've really felt it. My first guess was that my brain simply remembered the sensation, and me being a (very) anxious person gave it significance. I had the opinion that it was very unlikely I had done any damage to myself, much less permanent, as I had infrequently used DXM before, and my dose was low. However, I'm not so sure now. I haven't noticed any cognitive difficulties, I was very bright before, and still am now. My non-relevant memory recall seems to suffer, but that's attributed to daily cannabis use and genetics. Granted, it's hard to judge cognitive function as you really only start to notice a decline when it's far too late. Needless to say, I won't be doing any dissociatives any time soon, hopefully a positive mindset and a healthy lifestyle will repair any damage and the experience will motivate me to appreciate life.

Have you taken this as a sign to stop abusing DXM? That's what matters. I'm sure it's not a surprise to people that things like this happen. Doing DXM all the time is DANGEROUS. I personally know someone who went to rehab as a teen because of this and can say that this stuff fucked him up.

See what happens after not using for 2 months. Things will probably take time.

If your looking for people who experienced the exact same thing you may not get many responses.

uhh, I'd stop for a few months, than take a 3-rd plataeu dose. I find that usually "resets" my brains. I've been using and abusing DXM at high and low doses and long and short binges for 6 years now.

I'd have the headache only when waking up. and a burnt feeling. a half year long stop or my above suggestion takes care of it. but now I rarely get headaches matter how I use it.

the headaches that last are withdrawals at my peak dxm addiction id take up to 3.5 grams over the course of a whole day like 40 oz max strength robo, withdrawals FOR ME were far worse than my 2 gram a day heroin habit, YMMV but food for thought be safe with that shit ive used it for like 10-15 years safely... well mostly

I also experienced full concious seizures that were strange and fucking scary

never felt those, even after a week long use of 300-450 mg a day. If i were you, i would take it down a notch. perhaps you're getting headaches from too many neurons, or brain signals, being fired off. dxm is pretty intense on the brain, especially at doses of 1200 mg. be careful, shit like visual snow develops overtime at your dose/use level.
