Dxm extraction with acetaminophen pills

Swim is wondering if it is possible to extractthe acetaminophen from the dxm capsules. I know that dxm is not water soluble, and acetaminophen is, so wouldn't it be simple enough to just dissolve the capsules in water and filter what's left and be left with almost no acetaminophen. Sorry if this is in another post, but I looked for a while and couldn't find any post that related exactly to my problem. By the way, this is informational purposes because I have ready access to dxm only syrups, I just like to roll these ideas around my head.
 
After a ton of research, i have conflicting reports of dxm HBR's solubility in water. I understand it as the solubility being 1.5mgs per. 100 mls, which would be a lot. Most websites say that dxm HBR is not very water soluble, which confuses the shit out of me. Which one is it?
 
^ Acetaminophen is not water soluble. That's how a CWE on codeine or hydrocodone or oxycodone pills works; the opioid goes into water and the acetaminophen doesn't.

1.5mg per 100ml isn't very water soluble, sounds like the only way to separate the two substances would be to use a different solvent.
 
Oops I read the solubility wrong. I thought it was 1.5 g instead of 1.5mgs. Big difference. There was a post about extracting dxm from syrups containing dxm polistirex, and in the extraction, it was said the the polistirex would fall out of solution durin the extraction, while regular dxm hbr would not. Is this true? Sorry to be posting so many times in a row, Im new to blue light and I keep thinking of new questions every time I try to find an answer.
 
^ Was it one of those Agent Lemon type things?

Basically when you are making the polistirex fall out of solution, you are basing (I think) the DXM then re-salting it later on. Could be used in this situation perhaps...

Normally I'm a lot better with chemistry but my mind is kinda scattered right now.
 
The extraction was just a way to make the dxm easier to consume by concentrating it. It did not use any acid or base, just water, but it was a dxm only product if it matters. I now think a hot water typ extraction would work best in this situation. I read that dxm is 25% soluble in hot water, and acetaminophen is very soluble in hot water, which leads me to think that if I put a cough syrup or dissolved gelcaps containing dxm and apap in hot water, MOST of the apap will be removed, leaving me with a fair amount of dxm and at least safe levels of apap.
 
There was a post about this exact thing not long ago, actually, but I dunno, dxm is so easy to get in a pure form --- I guess only the curious chemistry people would wanna do something like a CWE for fun..I'd say get some codeine or something to make your fun worthwhile at least. And, we don't swim here.

Without looking up any charts about solubility of APAP in various water temperatures (which I used to have), you could possibly get a dangerous dose of APAP. I'd do quite a bit of research before trying this so as to be sure about the solubilities.

Sounds like a lot of trouble when DXM is so easily available without APAP and other crap in it.
 
I don't plan on consuming this in any form or fashion. I just like to sit down and think this shit up.
 
^ Ha ha, sounds like me in a way. :)

I don't have time now but I would be interesting in digging up my old solubility charts and the like again, I lost them because I have a new computer and I've only just returned to Bluelight after a long absence. I'll see if I can find them again.
