the times i've done dxm on srris, the effect has been similar mental/spiritual effects, but vastly diminished visual effects. is this known to happen? i know in theory this combo is dangerous... from what i've read of experiences, it seems it has been safe for those trying it in non-ridiculous amounts but what diminished visual/perceptual-change effect i've described i haven't seen happen to anyone. any ideas?

Most SSRI's, like DXM itself, are substrates of the CYP2D6 enzyme (some SSRI's are inhibitors of the enzyme as well), so your enzymes have to break them both down, leading to a higher DXM>DXO ratio. Assuming your visual effects are caused by DXO's greater NMDA antagonism or something in its pharmacological profile different than DXM, the difference makes sense. (What visual effects do you experience on DXM btw? I never found it to be particularly visual except in the dissociative object-recognition disruptive way, as well as alice in wonderland syndrome type effects)

Also, please refrain from using DXM until two weeks after discontinuing SSRI use if possible, some SSRI's pose greater risks in terms of Serotonin Syndrome than others, but really you shouldn't take the chance. Be safe, have fun. :)
