DXM and depression

I am feeling depressed after taking a math final. I know I failed. I have taken DXM before and really enjoyed the "none of this is real", dissociative feeling that I got. I think this could be a great way to escape for a while, but know it could potentially worsen the depression

What do you think? Is DXM a good tool to fight depression or no?

Edit out the swim. It's not used here.

Also no drug SHOULD be used to treat depression IMO. that's totally stupid. Fight depression by adding natural highs to your life.

But to answer your question, because of the massive amount of serotonin release from Dxm, yes it will fight your 'depression'. It will give you a FALSE sense of happiness for a couple days til your serotonin levels plummet and you're back asking what is another "tool to fight depression".

That's a complicated question. Studies have found it to be useful while other agents weren't so much, but it hasn't gone through enough trials yet. Until it's approved I'd steer clear unless you absolutely need relief and can't find it anywhere else by any other means and would hurt yourself or others unless you took it, and then only take a dose that's approved. I doubt that moment would arrive, though.

Honestly man SSRIs are probably safer and self-medication is a big no-no that I never dabble in. I would just try to get treatment the professional way, it may save a lot of hardship.
