DXM and cognitive function

Every now and then I decide to take a relatively low dose of dxm, 150-200mg. I get a nice energetic and social high at these doses. overall I've only done this 4 times, but I am concerned about damage I may do to myself.

I am always concerned about the effect drugs will have on my cognitive abilities as I treasure my brain much more than the rest of my body. I have heard that dxm may lower intellectual function and possibly social functioning when abused. I'm wondering if these doses will do any damage or if I'm just being paranoid?

If its "every now and then" at those does I'd expect you would be fine, everyone is different though. I've done about 375 mg around 4 times now (once a month) and I feel fine, just felt funky the next day or 2. Just don't go crazy redose a tone and/or do it too many times in a week.

That dose is pushing it. I'd guess that over 60mg used regularly causes problems. Yes I've read a lot of stories of people who abuse dxm and find themselves either with a psychotic disorder or with cognitive deficits or both.

well I don't use it every day, it's about once every few months, maybe less. I too feel strange the next day and that alone will stop me from ever dosing a day or two after. Overall the high isn't great enough to warrant using it more than once a month, it's just something I dabble in occasionally. most the time I forget it even exists even when I have some in my possession.

Once a month should be relatively safe at that dosage but combining with other noradrenergic/serotonergic agents could cause some problems.
