I have been taking Buspar for about 3 weeks now, and i haven't taken any DXM (Which i have several years of experience with) In about a month. Would 5 mg of Buspar and about 600 mg of DXM be safe to mix?

Both of these act on serotonin, and as such combination can lead to increased levels thereof. This can cause serious side effects leading to serotonin syndrome. While your dose of buspar is modest, one must also keep in mind that it does build in the system. I'd recommend avoiding it all together, but should you choose to proceed, I'd test the waters with a much lower dose of DXM than you normally would take.

Signs and symptoms to be on the lookout for:
The symptoms are often described as a clinical triad of abnormalities:
  • Cognitive effects: headache, agitation, hypomania, mental confusion, hallucinations, coma
  • Autonomic effects: shivering, sweating, hyperthermia, hypertension, tachycardia, nausea, diarrhea.
  • Somatic effects: myoclonus (muscle twitching), hyperreflexia (manifested by clonus), tremor. (Source)
