This is a trip that occured back in high school. It was my second time using DXM, the first time was about two months earlier with an experimental dose of 100 mg, which produced light feelings of dizziness and euphoria.
Place: My House
Dose:300 mg DXM, gelcaps
Stomach: Empty
Mindset: Relaxed, no responsibilities
I went into my bathroom and dosed 300 milligrams DXM by form of Robotussin Gelcaps. Then I got in the shower.
Quick (7 min) shower, it definitely hadn't kicked in yet. I dried off, went into my room, and clipped my toenails.
I didn't feel particularly impaired clipping my toenails, but it did seem that once or twice I cut the nail much closer than I normally would have.
I decided to meditate. I had been practicing this nightly for several months now, and felt that I had been able to attain successfuly meditative states. After meditating I felt relaxed, peaceful, and calm. It did take a few weeks of nightly practice to be able to do this.
I closed my eyes and meditated. It was a typical meditation session... As time went on the DXM started to take hold. My field of vision (behind closed eyes) seemed to morph into a giant warm red disc. Like I was looking at this disc. It seemed to be made out of a flowing, warm reddish substance... I held this meditative state for a while (15 minutes or so) and then climbed into bed.
Maybe I was just staring at the back of my eyelids lol.
I lay under my blankets and rubbed into the sheets. It felt good to rub my skin on the sheets.
I put on my headphones and fired up Shpongle's "Are You Shpongled?" I'd been planning to listen to this record as it's so psychedelic even whilst sober. The record lasts about an hour (maybe longer), so this was a good part of the trip.
I closed my eyes, sank into my bed and listened to the music. My room was dark and I kept my eyes closed. My consciousness seemed to expand in a way that is hard to explain... Like your body is really much, much bigger than it is... And since your eyes are seeing only darkness, your mind assumes that your body is as large as the darkness itself.
It also felt like I was twirling, head-over heels at some points but mostly like I was gently spinning on an axis. It felt quite good actually, a bit like floating through the universe.... Spinning slowly like a satellite, just taking in the surroundings.
As Shpongle's music picked up intensity, my trip did as well. I began to think about my life in a very removed way, as if I was able to step back and analyze everything. I realized that I had three very good friends who I cared about. I just basically tripped out and thought about how good my friends were, spinning around and feeling very good and high.
The music ended and I became aware of my body again. My body was itchy! Very itchy, I scratched and scratched my head but it felt like it was wet (it may have been from the shower, but I dried my hair) and so itchy! I tried not to focus on this because I'd read up on Erowid about people feeling itchy on DXM. So I tried to ignore it.
Walking around my house felt like I was walking on stilts. All dimensions were completely off. I managed to put my pants on and call my friend C. She came and picked me up.
C and I drove to KFC (Kentucky Fried Chicken). The ride is kind of hard to remember, we probably just talked about things as we shared many common interests. When we got to KFC we ordered chicken and ate it in the restaurant. I remember standing in line and staring around, this was probably 2 and a half hours after the initial dose. It seemed like tables were slanting one way or the other. We acted like normal customers ate and left.
C and I went back home and listened to music for a while then C went home. So I went to sleep and woke up the next day for High School.
The next day I didn't feel particularly bad, just a little slower than normal. After three days I would say I felt complely normal again.
I also could not urinate the day after dosing, the following day I could.
It's been six years, and I haven't used DXM since. I don't regret using it and think it was a valuable experience, I just don't need to use it again
