DXM 3+ plateau compared to K-hole

So I was out with my gf and some of her friends the other night and i got to talking to this dude about ketamine. He was pretty much telling me that the only thing he could compare a k-hole to would be a 3rd plateau or above dxm trip (anything above 700mgs I believe....?). He said the big difference of ketamine k-hole vs a high dose dxm trip would be the fact that on ketamine when your in the hole you cant walk and if u can its a damn shitty walk...but when your on high doses of dxm you can still walk even if it is "robo" walking. I had a bit of an argument over this seeing as ive been in a k-hole and ive been on 1+ grams of dxm at a time before...and il have to agree that they are both very dissociative but i feel like the high dose effect you get from dxm is a whole different spectrum of dissociation. I can recall walking many times on extremely high doses of dxm and looking around and just NOT being in this world...sorta like walking through a comic book dreamland only i was awake....very hard do describe obviously. Ketamine I just sort of melt into my head and its more of a dream then OEV dissociative trip seeing that im lying still most of the time. Also there is the fact that dxm lasts around 6-8hours and ketamine goes 1.2 hours at most IME. So basically my question is does anyone think the two are similar? Can anyone that has both K holed and taken a 3+ plateau dxm trip explain what their experiences were with them and how they mite be seen as similar or different? Thanks.

Maybe they weren't saying they are pretty much the same, but just trying to make it an easy way for people who haven't experienced one or the other to know what it could possibly be like. Kind've like saying Shrooms are like LSD, in a way they are in ways they aren't.

I had a very nasty run-in with DXM on the third plateau and I doubt that any future experiences with that level would be much different - it just seems to have a nasty reaction with my mind. Would ketamine be worth trying if I'm convinced DXM is going to cause consistently awful effects for me? I ask here because if they are indeed that similar, it wouldn't be worth subjecting myself to another bad dissociative trip.

(I've also had a bad mushroom trip, but will take mushrooms again one day. I'm quite sure though that DXM just isn't for me.)

IME I fucking love ketamine....a bit too much perhaps haha. I think if your tried ketamine you would more then likley enjoy it...its a very soothing dissociative feeling. Its called psychedelic heroin for a reason :) Use cation though...if you arent familiar with dissociatives it can feel quite intense the first time so dose small and work your way up, get comfortable with it first before you k-hole yourself out.

DXM and the arylcyclohexylamines (ketamine, MXE) are two worlds apart, IMO. DXM is definitely a dissociative, but it is also a powerful SNRI that confers a rather heavy, sick-feeling, "groggy", magical/shamanistic trip that can stretch for hours and become very confusing. It has a very strong body load compared to ketamine.

Ketamine on the other hand feels much "cleaner", more "clinical" and "spacey" if that makes any sense. It's less stimulating and nauseous to a degree, much more numbing yet you are clearheaded (if you can say that... the trip is much more mentally-oriented than DXM would be a better word), and the experience is timed much nicer (shorter comeup, faster comedown). the dosages are also roughly 1/10 of what you'd need for a DXM trip in milligrams. As a result it's easy to titrate yourself slowly into a K-hole.

It does make sense, and I can imagine the cleaner feel of it. I've heard DXM described as "ketamine with a heavy flu." I hope it doesn't make you feel mentally impaired like DXM does.

Anyway, I guess I'll find out when the time comes, and increase the dosage gradually with two-month gaps between each take to avoid addiction. Thanks both of you for the feedback.

The mental impairment is still there; but its a different kind of mental impairment. More like "i'm not going to think because I don't want to" not "I can't think because my head feels like it's full of mud".
