A friend is supposed to get me these in a few days and i have been doing i search on them. The only info i found was that these were common in the 60s and consisted of amphetamine salts together in combination with methaqualone the slang name was black beauties. I just went through a listing of all medicines prescribed and i found it although it was in a class of drugs used as poisoning antidotes. Does anyone know why amphetamine salts would be used as remedies for poisoning? I just dont want to get handed ritalin for all that money!

I never heard of durophet. I just did a quick search. Why do you want to use it? Why can't you try one and see how you like it before buying a big amount? Do you trust and know your friend well?

Do some more searching on the internet...

There are several other amphetamine-type stimulants including methylphenidate ( ritalin ), and diethylpropion ( tenuate, durophet etc ). There have also been a number of hybrid drugs eg, ( drinamyl, durophet-m ) which combine amphetamine and barbiturate.
In the past, amphetamines have been prescribed for conditions ranging from night blindness to seasickness, migraine and impotence. They are occasionally prescribed in the treatment of hyperactivity in children, depression, obesity and sleep disorders ( narcolepsy).

I did search in great detail and all i could find were references from its use in the sixties. Back then it was durophet-m the m standing for methaqualone which is not a barbiturate. What i am getting from my friend is plain durophet, which is weird because i cannot find any recent info on this medication anyone who might please help.

The Durophet I remember were capsules manufactured by Riker. They came in three strengths 20mg, 10mg, and 5mg coloured all black (black bombers), black and white (minstrels) and all white.

That is quite strange, if you can't find any recent information on it I'm tempted to say it isn't prescribed anymore...as I don't know of any other amphetamine+barbiturate combination drugs that are prescribed anymore.

Durophet M was an Amphetamine Methaquolone mix - the Amphetamine is a stimulant and kept one awake, the methaquolone was an hypnotic, designed to make one sleep. Methaquolone was also sold in combination with diphenyhydramine, as Mandrax. Methaquolone caused a number of psychotropic effects as well as Parasthesia, in combination with the Amphetamine it took the edge off the anxiety produced by the amphetamine.

As the previous writer Bunduk stated, the drug was produced by Riker Laboratories, it is still sold in India and in South Africa, I believe, and possibly in Burma as well as some South American countries. It is now prohibited in the West, although is still manufactured by Riker in the States for experimental (drug trials) purposes.

methaquolone is a Hydroquinone, not a Barbiturate. Most hypnotics now are Benzodiazepines, although there are a couple of other groups still in use.

Durophet was coloured black. An attractive 21-year-old at ASOPA (Australian School of Pacific Administration) in Mosman was taking daily two Methedrine, six No Doz and either five Durophet or five Dexedrine (depending on which available/prescribed). That was in 1966. Must have been using more than one doctor for prescriptions.
Quite a party girl with lots of stamina until the effects of alcohol caused her to lose consciousness.

Hi jad81887 - Welcome to Bluelight. The reason your previous post was gone was because I unapproved it. This thread is a year and a half old and in BDD we discourage bumping of old threads unless you have something really important to add. Not sure why you think this is relevant, just that some girl used these drugs? Please look over our guidelines and PM me if you have any questions.
