Duration between SSRI withdrawal and Ayahuasca cermon

Hello. I am concerned about the potential toxic interaction between MAOI's and SSRI.

Since december I have been on a really small dose of escitalopram (Cipralex). The dose has been 2,5 mg every second day, and the last 4 years before that, 5mg every second day.

I have been on this pills since my youth. But began tapering down 4 years ago. My doctor says that 5mg a day doesnt have any significant effect on my behaviour and that the abstinence symtoms that have been the reason for not quitting is strictly psychological.

I have been on different substances while on Cipralex without any problems. I have tried LSD two times ca 12 years ago without any physiological issues regards to the SSRI - LSD mix. Was on 10mg pr day then.

I have a invitation to a cermon in about a month and I quit my Cipralex 14 days ago. So the big question Is - is it safe to take Aya after 6 - 5 weeks off the antidepressants?

I have read on different medical sites that I only have to wait a week. But I want to know if someone have any deeper experience on this subject?

You should be fine. You are taking an extremely low dose of escitalopram (the most commonly prescribed dose is 10mg per day) and leaving a good amount of time between quitting and taking Aya.

Tnx. I like to stress the topic a bit. Because I have read that there is different threshold for different SSRI's like fluovaxamine. And some up to five weeks.

I obviously dont want to stress about this during my first Ayahuasca trip

You are taking a rediculously low dose of SSRI - don't stress.

^ But since OP has been treated with Escitolapram for several years, shouldn't there be a significant amount builded up in the body?
Even though dose is tapered down to 2,5mg EOD - Escitolapram half life is 27-32 hours.
