I searched but didn't find anything close to what I was looking for, even did an image search on google. Alright, so last month I got my first script of fentanyl and the pharmacy automatically gave me generic cause I have medecaid (but they don't cover generic) so I got Watson 100mcg/h patches, which I had to pay for. (they're expensive) At first I felt nothing cause I have a high tolerance, so I tried abusing them in every way, shape and form. (smoke, iv, injest, subligual, cheek) just to get some pain relief, not to necessarily get high, but I wasn't feeling ANYTHING AT ALL and I AM a chronic pain patient. I'd like to say that I don't condone abusing your meds either, it was pretty much a last effort to relieve myself. (EDIT- I'D LIKE TO ADD THAT I ONLY TAMPERED WITH 2 PATCHES OUT OF MY WHOLE SCRIPT) Thankfully after a week and a half, I was waking up not sick, and in less pain. Which I thought was due to withdrawl, but when I ran out while waiting for my next script to be filled at the pharmacy, I found that it was because the fentanyl was working just not the way that I am used to my pain meds working, its horribly un-euphoric and does NOT and can not get me high, I don't think. They have no recreational value at all for me. But that's ok as long as my pain is ebbed. I need not any more ways to get high. So anyways we found that medicaid pays for brand so this time I got 100mcg/h and 25mcg/h duragesic patches. Yes, durAgesic not durOgesic. From what I've read that means there's gel in it, but these patches are just a thin film. I don't understand. I put my first two patches on and within 20 minutes the big one, the 100mcg/h patch came half-way off when I reached up to pull the string on the fan. (it was on the back of my shoulder more towards the spinal area where I thought would be less apt to get stretched and such) So here's my 2 questions:
1. Why do I have durAgesic patches with no gel? they are pri-cara (ortho-mcneil-janssen) has anyone else ever seen duragesic patches with out get, just film? They sound like mylan type or maybe matrix type but are most definately the brand name fentanyl patches, duragesic. with an a not an o
2. Where are the places that people have found they stick to the best AND are the best place to administer the drug? i have very sensitive skin, so they already irritate me and I've tried my stomach, chest, and back of shoulder.... like I know the buttcheek is a bad spot cause there's fat there. well, not mine, I weigh 100 pounds soaking wet lol I don't want to keep using medical tape cause these patches actually make me sweat more for some reason and the tape just doesn't stick well either and I've tried 3 types of tape
Thank you for any information, especially on why my new patches don't have gel. Its weird. I think they suck even more than the ones with the gel. They definately don't stick as well. But I put them on yesterday at 2 pm and woke up this morning feeling ok, no sickness and manageable pain.
Again although I admittedly did attempt to abuse my patches, I'd like to add that I have a disgustingly high tolerance, and that abusing any pain medication is a bad idea, especially for those who don't have a tolerance. Thanks again 4 any info.
